I currently have mine in a synthetic stock. I do not have the spring in it (I left it in the original stock. That is probably whats going on with your stock. The trigger group will not kick out, because there is no spring. It is also metioned in the instructions. So you will have to pull up with one hand and push in with the other.

The quick jab and hammer thing will work with an original stock and spring setup, yours will prob needs constant pressure. Up on the triggerguard and in on the tab (with the rifle upside down of course, safety must be on)

http://www.atigunstocks.com/img/cms/...ns/SKS0300.pdf

It should go straight back, but the little divet is at a 45 degree angle

Dang, looks like I have to clean my rifle again, .

After watching several videos I believe it is the angle at which I am able to get at it. And that wont change until I can remove this pistol grip.

My SKS also has a synthetic stock. It requires a bit of work to get the trigger group out. Make sure the safety is engaged, otherwise you'll never get it out.

No, will have to wait till Friday/Saturday till I can remove the pistol grip.

The safety is engaged so that isn't the issue.

I just tried the method shown in this video.

Again what am I not doing right? The receiver popped up like in the video. But I couldn't budge it anymore.

If it popped you should be in the clear. I guess you need more pressure. I bet you will put the wood stock on the thing after this mess

Well took the pistol grip off the Tapco stock and used a screwdriver to POP the trigger assembly. It popped immediately with little pressure.

Lesson learned don't put it in this stock if you want to have easy disassembly of the rifle. The hole in the pistol grip, while it does let you gain access to the area. It doesn't give you a great angle to make it POP.

Now the gun is disassembled and ready for its initial cleaning! Finally nearly three weeks after getting it.

Very frustrating. Especially when this video brought hope.
Only to fail in my situation.

But thankfully it is off now and my stock refinishing project is off and running. Will be cleaning these parts this week and hopefully finish the stock refinishing in the up coming months, due to cold weather and the fiancee not wanting me to stain it in the house.

I think you did the right thing by taking it out of that plastic thing and going back to the wood.

Well I will tell you I am glad it came in that stock... I say this because it let me try it out without purchasing it and finding out I hated it.

The overall length of the Tapco stock is LONG. Add into it the 6 position part and it becomes unusable in my book.

The wood stock feels much shorter then the Tapco stock does and lighter.

Have you tried sacrificing a goat on the top of a mountain during a full moon on the 3rd Thursday of a leap year? Always worked for me.

Reassembly Issues

Issue still arise. While I was able to dissasemble now I cannot reassemble. I cannot get the trigger group back into place. I am applying ample force and it is just not clicking. SAFETY IS ON. Mag is properly installed. Stock is inserted on barreled action properly.

The video I have linked in here is what I am using to help me put her back together, but she will not budge. My hands are numb trying to get the trigger group back on.

If it came apart, it should go together. Sometimes technique helps, when that fails, you may really need to resort to a rubber mallet like papershredder suggests.

It took using a C clamp to mate them together. Yup a C clamp. It's back together now.
