Although there are many here who can speak with much more authority than I about the SKS, I would not assume that any rifle was zeroed when I got it.
You have a great excuse to take it to the range and shoot it some! Learning your new weapon is (should be) a big part of the fun.

A decent, unissued, military rifle *should be zeroed when you get it.

There really is no way to tell untill you've shot her a bit though.

Therefore, there must be a finite number of inhabited worlds. Any finite number divided by infinity is as near to nothing as makes no odds, so the average population of the Universe can be said to be zero. From this it follows that any people you meet from time to time are merely the product of a deranged imagination.

If you take a good look at the front of the front sight post there may be a mark on the front sight base and the cylinder that the front sight is attached to. in theory if these two marks are aligned you should be at least touching the black of a bullseye at 100yds. Another recommendation is that you get the sight adjustment tool just in case you have to move the front sight laterally.

Cool

I have found all of the new SKS and AK's that I got new were pretty much on the money, but you won't know unless you try them out.If you get it from an individual, well, you don't know how much they have fooled with it.
