SKS with grenade launcher

My question is, is it possible to make a muzzel brake out of the grenade launcher. I went to a local store and he said that one guy he knew drilled a bunch of holes in his grenade launcher and basicly turned it into a muzzel brake. He also said that doing that made it shoot like a .22. Is this possible? Can it be done? I have to opportunity get one, and if it's possible, I think it would be a good selling point. What do you think.

Yes, this will work to an extent. I did the same thing with my 870 shotgun, and it really makes a difference. But with the Yugo SKS's threaded barrel, it would be more efficient to replace the grenade launcher with a good AK74-style 'brake. I've shot a compensated Norinco, and it did make a difference. It tamed the already light recoil.
The extra weight up front on my Yugo helps reduce the muzzle jump, so I really don't see any great need for a 'brake or compensator. It just doesn't kick that much to begin with.
