Bayonet issues...

I just bought a yugo sks and an installing the Fiberforce stock... I need to remove my bayonet however...
Problem is it looks like the screw holding it in has its back side whacked with a punch to keep it from coming out... any suggestions for removal so I can get this stock on?

Peace

Place gun (make sure it's empty and on safe!) on an old piece of carpet. Using a large flat screwdriver tip in a 3/8" drive socket wrench on extension. This will let you apply enough torque to break the screw loose.
It worked great on my Yugo SKS.

I had the same problem with one of my yugo's...I just decided not to remove the bayonet so I took a dremel tool and made a groove so it could fit. It looks pretty good too!

I use a Screw Impact loosener on those staked screws. They are fairly inexpensive and once you "set" em with the correct bit you smack it with a ball peen hammer and it will twist em right out.

Replace Bayonet with Bipod

Remove the bayonet bolt and replace the bayonet (useless) with a useful bipod. Send an email to rhd80962@juno.com for photos and info on steel and aluminum bipods that bolt directly into the bayonet lug.

I know of a few sources for hard to find mounts and accessories for SKS, Mosin Nagant and other rifles. When I read postings on the gun forums regarding a related problem or question I just add my comments in the hope that it will help someone resolve their issue.

Thumbs up

I did have a folding steel bipod on my Yugo for a time. Works great - but lots more weight up front. Also. some benches are too short to use the bipod effectively on. I put the bayonet back on. If I find the need, I can swap the bipod back on.

I'd hate to take my bayonet off. Those plastic "Enemy Ivan" pop-up targets that I shoot will wait until you unload your weapon to attack...they're tricky like that.
