Here are my first two SKS's-hopefully they won't be the last!
You might be able to tell that I can't leave them alone-always looking for improvement-truth is, I love to tinker!
Enjoy!

What did you do to properly shape the wood to fit the gun? I'd love to make a bullpup for my SKS, but I'm not sure what to use to cut the inside of the stock.

| Shaping the Bullpup
Actually, I slit the 3/4" board, cut out the outlines of both "sides", then sanded away wood to make the thinner areas, and built up the thicker ones with laminated layers glued together.
The next one will be done differently in that it will be thicker at the fore end and a little fatter along the barrel underparts. That will help hide the trigger linkage.

I notice you don't have the Tapco tube guard on. Any particular reason why?

Like I said this rifle was cobbled together from various good parts after I came across a beater (really, really, a beater receiver/barreled action for $50.00. I had to buy a gas cylinder for it since the original was shot out (oversize and would not actuate the ejection rod). So I used a perforated metal guard I picked up at a gun show. I have the guard that came with the stock, just have not used it. The metal guard is brazed onto the cylinder in addition to pinning. I like this stock very much because I'm 6'4" tall and I can make the stock the exact size I need.

More Cowbell's picture of Zephri's is what I would like to have.
Does shortening the barrel harm it in anyway ???
