I just mounted one on my receiver cover. It works good. I have not had any trouble getting it to stay tight. It's on there and you can not move it If I was you I would take a look at the pics of your SKS thread I posted mine is the first one. I bought the whole kit off of ebay. It was the best deal I could find. The scope is a little cheesy. But it works. The mount has to be made to fit your rifle. I had to file it down to get it one there but if you take your time and go little by little you can get it to mount up very tightly.
Here is a link to that post http://www.gunandgame.com/forums/sks...-your-sks.html (Post pics of your SKS.)

Also here is a link to the kit I bought. The stock is a Tapco, The best you can get for the SKS. The Mount is made by UTG and the scope is made by them. UAG.
SKS RIFLE 6 POS T6 STOCK+UAG RED-GREEN DOT REFLEX SIGHT - (eBay item 230168842431 end time Sep-12-07 11:48:12 PDT)
The company I ordered it from on ebay was very prompt answered my phone calls and I got it in 7 days.

I used a Red Star mount, filed it to fit, and then drilled and tapped a hole at the very back for a 6x32 machine screw so that the screw would contact the bottom of the retaining pin. I then ground a taper on the screw. when tightened, the screw pulls the rear of the mount down to the receiver and makes it solid as a rock.

My first scoped receiver was so loose I had a nice 20" group at 100 yds! I went back to the original receiver and the rifle printed quite nicely. I just put on a different receiver for a different scope. The next range trip will be the test. I like the idea of a scope, but won't hesitate to go back to the original receiver and shoot with factory irons.

I used mine today. Receiver Scope Mount. It started out tight. But that lasted about 50 rounds. Now it is loose. I guess that it jus won't work. I am going to try and see what my local gunsmith comes up with. Besides he looks like he needs a challenge. LOL.

Toolman could you post a pic of how you modded your receiver scope mount? Thanks GA

I saw a reciever some where that has the scope mounts machined on to it.
You remove the reciever thats on your SKS and put this one on.
And it was made in the U.S.A

Yup that is what we have A.H. but it works loose. I think that the metal used to make it is too soft. It sux cause after you fit it once there is no way to go back and do it again. The metal just gets beaten to death where the cover slides into the receiver.
