Unhappy Missed Fred!

Went to the Lakeland Gun Show, hopeing to see Fred Thompson, who was there Saturday, but missed him.
Fortunitly I got a nice SKS to sooth my disappointment.
A Norinco, mint with spike bayonet, original chinese sling, and all numbers match including the stock.
Private sale,no paperwork, just show Florida residence, but I showed my CCW to let him know that I was one of the good guys.

Does anyone know what Fred believes ........ besides him liking guns? Or is that enough for most of you guys? Not against him .... just don't know what he thinks about the issues yet. Sorry for getting political.

1. Who is Fred??

2. Goodaim: I bought a reciever cover with weaver mount already attached. Bought it on E-Bums (E-Bay) befor they went all stupid. this is the same thing I got, works great, not a bad price either. GunBroker.com guns: SKS 4x32 Scope MNT-642B Mount/Ring Package (item: 80747261 ends: Sep-18-07 11:26:49 PM) I had do a little fileing on the 2 prongs on the front to get cover to fit right but not a big deal, just remeber a little at a time, took about 8 tries but I figured it was better to take few strokes of the file than to wind up with a loose cover.

Go to Fred '08 - Friends of Fred Thompson for Fred's site.

Fred Dalton Thompson is a Republican candidate for president. He was TN Senator for 8 years, and has a good voting record (other than support of the McCain/Feingold campaign stuff, which he now thinks was a mistake). Pro-gun and most importantly he is running on the idea that we should embrace the US Constitution as written, and work to pare down the government's size and power to get in line with the Constitution.

He has written a number of 'blog' entries on various issues on the site which will give you an idea what he thinks and what his positions are. No double-talk or hiding behind questions with him.

Question

I have not found anything but serial numbers on that SKS,no importer marks, company, etc.
I know it is military because the stock is numbered with the same number as the rest.
Perhaps the markings are low on the receiver hidden by the stock.I will disassemble it soon and see.

Rave, if this is your first SKS, make sure the safety is on before trying to reinstall the trigger group, it won't go in otherwise.
