| Senior Member | As I mentioned in my response to your other posting, check out Gunbroker.com or Auctionarms.com. They do not import them any longer. So they are not easy to find, but i wouldn't call them rare either. There are lots of them out there. |

| Senior Member | If I remember correctly, an sks-m was a standard sks modified legally several years ago to take an ak47 mag. cant remember all the specs. Hope someone else can.

| Senior Member | The SKS-m is an SKS that has been modified to accept either AK mags or specially designed reliable hi cap SKS, not the cheap pieces of junk you see at the gun shows, but decent and reliable specially made hi cap SKS mags. Some of the paratrooper models that came out of Norinco were factory mods and highly desirable in the collector market. If indeed you are thinking of buying one watch out for the hillbilly rigged ones and make sure you either get a factory mod or a get a mod that was done by a competent gun smith. | Senior Member | The first SKS M (or was it D?) that were brought in were semi-auto modifications of the SKS type 63 which was a chicom select fire SKS using a 20 rd mag. They looked very similar, but there were differences, most notable was the plug sticking out of the gas port. Sorta like an MP 44 for those that are familiar with that weapon. Didn't buy one when they first came in and then they were modified to look more like an SKS and the "ass ault gun ban" stopped import w/o being modified. I'd still like to find one as I have all the accessories for a type 63. Sarge |

| Registered User | the M typically be in a thumb hole stock, but can also be in a monte carlo style stock,it will have no bayo, just a nub where the mount use to be the D is the other sporter that excepts the AK double stack mag,the major differance is that the D model will have a folding spike bayo, and if i am remembering correctly is a pre ban sporter Norinco imported, which explains the bayo, the D is more desireable as a collector,ad typically bring around a $100-$150 more than a M wich go for between $300-$350 |
