Thats what i was thinking. Now is it possible to still find surplus ammo for these guns in large bulk size or will that mostly have to be bought online? or is THAT a good thing to wait for a gun show?

Nick go to AIM buy the SKS you will not find a better deal anywhere else. It's a good thing I do not live next to them, I already have bought ammo and some accesories from them, if I could just walk in and not have to pay for shipping I'd be thereat least once a month.

haha yeah. like i said already made one purchase from there with my M44. I also think when i go back to get the SKS im gonna pick up some Bulgarian Heavy Ball ammo for the M44 and M91/30. It is 183 grain and has the yellow tip on it. 44 for 300 rounds. Anyone know if i can get bulk surplus ammo for the SKS at any kind of store instead of having to order offline?

7.62x39 can be found at most any gunshop, I fire Wolf brand through mine. it is the same round used in most AK's.

AIM has 1000 rds of Gold Tiger for $160, since you dont have to pay shipping that is a great price, they also have the 6.5mm for your Carcano.

yup i knew they had the ammo for the carcano. Now is that about the cheapest im gonna find bulk ammo for the SKS? because 160 is still a bit much. But then its better than buying the same amount and spending anywhere from 300 to 500 for it

at that price it comes out to about $3.20 a 20 rd. box, I pay about $4.50 a box at my local gunshop. so if you can afford it that is a good price, the last gunshow I was at Gold Tiger was $4 a box.

they are both russian made so probable the same, the only differance is that the wolf is poly coated and the GT is lacqeur coated. the lacqeur could cause a problem of build up in the chamber if not cleaned regularly. That is not a problem for me since I clean all my firearms after fireing them, which can be a bit of a pain if I take 5 or 6 to the range.

so would you say its worth the 10 bucks more? this is my only gun that would be shooting the rounds. everything else is a bolt action so its not like cleaning is really that much of a task

That is about the best price you will find on the wolf. Surplus 7.62x39 has been gone for a while, I think. You and I both missed out on the cheap wolf prices. My buddy has a couple thousand rounds of wolf he bought at a gun show and he got it cheap. But those days are gone.
