mag problems

ok heres the deal i have three 30 round mags two of them are the steel target sports cheap crap ones that kick out of the gun after a few rounds are shot.So i go to the local gun show and buy another 30 round mag made by tapco .The problem with it is once the shells are all loaded into the mag they dont sit at an angle so the the sks's bolt can slid the shell into the chamber they sit low and the bolt slids right over them.So i think well i'll just tweak the spring in the mag so that the shell sits more at an angle but that did not work either.Oh also i tried just turning the spring around and that did nothing also. all in all i still have the trusty 5 round mag.Anybody else seem to have had this happen to them.

my humble opinion stick with what the rifle was designed with my sks has a 10 round magazine, not sexy but functional and reliable.

does tapco have a 30 rd? I have their 20 round and it works great. I did have to file a couple edges round so that it would fit in my russian sks.

The fact that you can fit an aftermarket 20 or 30 round detachable magazine into an SKS does not mean that you should. Simonov designed the SKS with an integral 10 round magazine. I've no reason to believe he didn't have a good reason for designing it that way. He wanted, and got, a tough rifle that would stand up to abuse and still work properly. As a rule, one should not try to second-guess the weapon's designer.
