| Senior Member ![]() | I liked the movie "Sniper", it's still a favorite of mine. "Shooter" is great movie all around, but I'm with six shot, my favorite sniper movie has to be "Enemy at the Gates". Is the movie "Sniper 2" any good? Just wondering might buy if it is. Last edited by Kodiak32; 02-15-2008 at 07:17 PM. Reason: not finished |

| Senior Member | Shooter is probably my favorite movie. Books, read marine sniper, all about carlos hathcock, that has to be up there in books I've read it is very good. ambidextrous shooting is fairly common i believe, i know i do it when its needed. if i cant swing around in a blind very easily or soemthing i just go left handed, not that hard at all. |

Trader Rating: (0) | that hathcock deal is one of those really hardcore things that i sincerely hope is true. like i said steelcore ammo on an old style scope might just have done it. even if the bullet didnt go through that mans head that glass driven into your face with the force of a full on rifle bullet........

| Senior Bear Fluffer ![]() | On a revisit of the myth of the sniper Mythbusters took an original PU scope and 30-06 steel core ammo and confirmed that this could happen. It went through the scope and into the ballistics gelatin head deep enough to kill.

| Senior Bear Fluffer ![]() | Yep, I am sure they did! The first trial they used a modern 3x9 variable scope. The 06 slug did not go through. Well DUH!! There is a big difference between the modern scope and the old 3x PU models. Plus, they were using no surplus ammo. When they switched to steel core 06 ammo and an original style PU scope it equaled confirmed myth. God Bless Carlos Hathcock.

Trader Rating: (0) | During the WWII battle of Stalingrad, two snipers, a Russian (Law), and a German (Harris), are locked in a battle of wills and marksmenship, while the Russian is boosted to the status of hero by a political official it's a heluva movie!

Use a firearm that did not exist in tbe period your story is set in, have someone shoot somebody with a firearm not chambered for the caliber you mentioned, do something absurd like shoot a murder victim with a dry ice bullet, have a semi-auto pistol shoot like a machine gun, etc etc etc, and you'll never hear the end of it |

Don't think it was Berenger himself as much as it was him reading the script they gave him. More then likely a writer who had no clue? lol

| Member | The Myth-Busters tested the dry ice bullet myth. Can't remember how it turned out. My favorite sniper movie was Saving Private Ryan with Barry Pepper as the sniper. He killed a German sniper by shooting in the eye through his scope. Oh my! I just realized you said the great Ed McBain is dead. My father and I are in mourning. Six-Shot. Read "War of the Rats", it will give you a different viewpoint of, "Enemy at the Gates". I will shut up now. Goodnight all. Last edited by minkowski1552; 03-20-2008 at 12:55 AM.
