SKS - Trigger Safety

Disassembled Yugo SKS M59/66A1 to steam the cosmoline out of it today.

On reassembly, cannot release the trigger safety.

Disassembled with hammer cocked, and safety on per instruction.

Reassembled in same configuration.

Have tried, per some post suggestions, to release safety for reassembly, but not successful.

No other problem with reassembly, just cannot release trigger safety!

Any ideas...?

Thanks!

I've worked more on this, and the root cause of the problem appears to be the Trigger Safety impinging on the lock-pin which holds the trigger group secure (the one which must be depressed to remove the trigger).

Anyone encountered this before?

Welcome to the forum,

I had the same problem with my Yugo after I took it down for a good cleaning. The trigger was locked and would not move. I messed with for about an hour and and it started working with no problems since.

Please post again if you are still having problems....
