| Senior Member | cleaning after firing corrosive ammo? Hi all After firing corrosive 7.62x39 ammo, what is the best way to clean the SKS? I own a #4 MK1 Long Branch Lee Enfield that I fire surplus ammo through, and I pour about a liter of boiling water down the barrel to remove the residue.(I even have an original Armourer's funnel to facilitate this!) I also use Sweet's 7.62 cleaner to remove the copper from the FMJ rounds. I noticed that this cleaner has a (very) strong ammonia content...would this by itself suffice to remove any corrosive buildup from firing surplus rounds through the SKS? (I have a Russian model on order-should be here late next month.. )Any info would be greatly appreciated! |
