| Any Gas tubes/cylinders and piston lubes? We have come a long way with lubes and such.Looking at my can of "BOSTIK NEEVER-ZEEZE Pure Nickle Special never seize which is rated for 2400 degrees F got me to wondering if anyone has come up with a piston/cylinder lube or such for the SKS,30 cal.Carbine,rifles or shotguns that would lube,repel carbon or such without freezing up the works?Has anyone have any knowledge of such? | The SKS gas tube and piston should ALWAYS be run dry! NO LUBE!! If you lube it, it'll create a black gunky mess, and much will blow out the vent holes. Not a good idea. For the action, I favor a good gun grease.

| I had a hope. I do know to and do run them CLEAN as I follow all manufacturers instructions UNTIL a tried and PROVED better way comes along.I also know that with modern chemicals the same pistons and gas cylinders on M1 carbines clean much easier than the first one I cleaned in 1956,so it ain't all the improvements in metallurgy and chrome like my Browning and SKS.Though I love my flintlock and the old natural and homemade chemicals I make up and use,some modern things are better.I started as a crew member and mechanic on Polaris Nuclear Submarines and retired in maintenance out of a modern chemical plant that was ISO approved.I never destroyed a machine or caused a injury with my work and do not want to start now. I see reports and claims that they are using modern chemicals and modern treatments for automatic weapons and naval Gatling guns under adverse and severe wartime battle conditions at times.There are claims and reports of some great results.Some of these are for use with the kind of residue and conditions that would be found in a firearms gas cylinder.I see no reason that one day they may get everything together and come up with something.We are certainly closer now than ever before.A lot of things have been around a while in my life before I knew of them.I asked in the hopes that something was out there that I had not heard of.Many gun owners and gun smiths have never heard of my favorite never seize for shotgun chokes,marine use,private and commercial engine exhaust use.I do not believe that I have heard of them all either. I do thank everyone for the responses and hopefully someone some day will come up with something like this that will certainly be a great help to many and even a lifesaver to those in combat at times.
