yugo problems

took my yugo to the range and it is shooting all over the place. at 100 yards it was up to 4ft off target only hit the target 7 out of 20. it was off to both sides but mostly to the right. i was also shooting my 91/30 and it did real good 3in group at 100 yards with iron sights. i know its not me. when i bought the yugo it had a muzzle break welded on. any help please

First off, were you shooting it freehand, with a sand bag, a bench rest or something similar?

Is it still welded on or have you taken it off?

Does it group at all at shorter ranges?

Have you tried different ammo?

Might want to check the crown to see if it's scratched up and different ammo may help.
Do'es the rifling look good ?

Question

Check the crown - maybe it got buggered?
What ammo are you using?
Is the action/barrel secure in the stock? No wobble?
Shooting from a solid rest?

i took a good look at at the muzzlebreak and it has a shiny spot on it looks like the rounds coming out are hitting the muzzlebreak. i was siting down on a bench with sand bags. i shot my other two rifles that day and they were right on. i want to try different ammo but if it is hitting on the muzzlebreak i dont want to take a chance of hurting myself or someone else. im gona call the place i got it and raise hell. they have a range in the store so ill have them give it a try. thanks

Aha! This has been a problem with aftermarket MB's - I take it this is the "California-legal" model that Century replaced the grenade launcher on with the MB? In a pinch, boring out the inside of the MB (not touching the barrel itself!) may work.

yep it is one of the kalifornia legal deals . i may try to fix it i didnt even think to remove a little off the wall of the break i was a little mad since i payed $300 for it and already had a problem with the gas valve. replaced it with a stainless valve and no more cycling problems. thanks

Personally I would take my gas valve out and send it back for a replacement,no sense in paying good money for somebody else's screwup, unless your just tired of messing around with them and want to fix it yourself. That thing must really be on the crooked for the bullet to be hitting the side of it on exit. I feel for ya living in CA on the gun laws you have to deal with.

Me thinks Big Dog hit it on the head. Or rather realized the bullet is hitting the muzzle break or a weld on it? Good catch.

Thumbs up Easy way to get rid of the grenade launcher

Just knock out pin put your receiver in a padded vise, heat the bottom of launcher with a propane or mapp gas torch. Threads are right handed, put a pipe wrench on the launcher and and pull toward you, it will loosen then can be removed. I put this AR 15 Bird Cage flash hider on mine, it is made just for the Yugo by Richard Miller online, he has several different designs for the yugo check it out.

Nice rifle there MS just curious if you noticed any accuracy differences using the clamp on bipod vs. not using one at all. I though about clamping one on the bayo handle also to not interfear with the barrel harmonics. +1 on the Rick's muzzle brakes he makes some nice ones well worth the money. Papers brake is welded on because of CA gun laws so you can't use rifle grenades with the YUGO,there seems to be mass quantities of rifle grenades lying around in that state somewhere.

It does very well accuracy is outstanding taking her out tomorrow, try and post some pics of some targets. I am amazed at the accuracy of this rifle especially with open sites! WOW
