yugo, loosing wieght

I have a yugo 59/66 and would like to take off the extras, I have the bayonet off. The piece on the end of the barrel,(I think it's for a grenade launcher) has a small pin through it. Is it just a matter of driving the pin out and unthreading it?
Who makes the best scope mounts for these rifles? I have seen the kind that mounts on the side and stands quite tall. To me these look like they wouldn't stay zeroed that well. Does anyone have experiance with these or others. thanks

Some guys have asked this on the other gun boards, and consensus is that the grenade launcher may be soldered as well as screwed on. The pin can be a real bear to remove, too. One guy simply cut it off and recrowned the muzzle.
I personally like the grenade launcher, but that's just me. The extra weight helps tame what little muzzle jump the weapon has, too.

I haven't seen a really good scope mount. I've tried the one that has the two set screws on each side of the cover, but the screws that hold the upper ring piece on tend to shoot loose.
At present I'm using the simple cover type that has to be filed on the front. It has proven secure so far.

On the Simonov.net site, there is a web page showing the various scope mount options available.

Simonov.net SKS webpage:

Hope this helps.
