There is usually a pin that looks like a rivet. You need to probably soak this in oil and then beat the crap out of the pin with a punch. On my SKS, I upgraded to the TAPCO stock, and simply changed the gas tube and piston and springs, along with the stock, to make it compliant. The new gas tubes need to be filed down a bit to fit snugly, but other than that they work great. BTW, AKs are much easier to remove because they simply rotate off. The SKS looks similar, but does not function the same way. |

I could'nt seperate the piston either, so when i switched stocks I just sanded it down and spray painted the dang thing.

I ended up just tapeing it off,sanding and staining around the metal.

I have had trouble with that rascally pin before too. Had to drill one out, but most come out with the proper size punch and a little hammer love.

It turned out pretty decent. Except for the gouges I made trying to get the crossbolt out. Wont make that mistake again. lol
