SKS cleaning rod loose and short

Being new to the SKS i have a couple of questions. The cleaning rod doesn't seem to thread into anything making it loose and rattly, not a big deal but surely not good in combat, eventualy when i disassemble it i will check for female threads. It also is about 9 inchs short of reaching the receiver when layed along side the barrel. The stock cleaning kit storage is empty except for the spring, i plan to buy one but the ones i've seen pictures of don't have jags or extensions that would add up to 9 or 10 inchs. I know i'll probley never use the factory cleaning rod or kit and the gernade launcher probley unscrewed making it shorter for cleaning [mine now has a muzzle brake tack welded for CA.legal] but i really like all the stuff they were issued with in place.

None of the SKS cleaning rods are long enough to clean the entire length of the bore and chamber,if it were it wouldn't fit in the rifle because of where the receiver and mag well is at on the rifle. Thats why the Yugo have the pull through rope in there cleaning kits. All the rest you have to clean it from both ends if you ever use the original rod.

The cleaning rod is held in place by the small notch under the front sight, generally when the bayo is closed the handle will press up agents the rod and hold it firmly in place and no noise if not just use a small piece of rubber tubing over the end of the rod to keep it quiet.
