SKS top handguard removal

I am putting a folding stock on my Norinco SKS, that was purchased before the 94 ban, how in the world do I get that top hand guard wood off the tube? I can't get that pin out for anything. ANY help would be appreciated. Thanks. I would rather not ruin the wood if I can help it.

I tried to get mine off, ended up crackin the wood, you can order the synthetic one with a rail on it and with gas tube from Davides Collectables.

I think I remember for reading some post that the pin that holds the hand guard on is peened on the end and you have to drill it out slightly before punching it out.

If you just want to buy the whole new tube here's a place thats a few bucks cheaper and he ships USPS save you some shipping also. MilSurpStuff.com Products

Thanks for the info. I was putting on a ATI folding stock and got it all "customized" the way I wanted it. Meaning grinding out the bayonet slot on the bottom and I put a rail in there. After I was all done, with stock extended, I realized that the stock would fold up when the weapon was held at a 45 degree angle. It collapsed under the weight of the gun. I called ATI and they sent me a prepaid postage label and I sent it back. They couldn't fix it so they sent me a new one. It leans a bit when unfolded and held at that angle, but doesn't collapse. But almost. I just wanted it so it can be made really short. I wouldn't recommend that stock if you want strength in the folding stock. Customer service was good. I will check into the other things so I can change the top handguard of it. Thanks again.
