| No, it's a different animal altogether. I may be wrong (it happens occasionally - LOL!) but I think I read that the AK drum also will not work in the Chinese SKS that takes AK magazines. I think BRG3 could possibly answer that for sure.

Even the AK mag SKS's need modification to accept the AK drums and it is not advised since you have to lighten the reciever to get the drum to fit. A SAR 1 is the ticket for using AK drums.

| Super Moderator ![]() | The AK magged model SKS requires modification to the stock to use drums. Reason is that the mag well is much deeper than the AK's, since the standard SKS mag is fixed and mostly internal. Getting an AK mag to work in a Romanian SKS is literally trying to stick a rectangular peg in a triangular hole. Not gonna happen unless you reengineer the gun. I assume if you have an AK drum you have an AK. Use it for the sustained drum fire and an SKS for aimed shots. You'll be happier with each. The SKS wasn't designed for sustained fire. A bunch of palestinians converted SKSs to full auto and to use AK mags. They caught fire after a few mags.
