What's the best call you've used?

Thinking of squirrel hunting this year. Been checking out the different calls for sale online and seems like they all have mixed reviews. Some say they work great, some say they scare the squirrels away.

Anyone have experience using squirrel calls? Any opinions on which is best?

Any good stories or other advice? Thanks!

Forget the call. Train a good squirrel dog. When you spot one, the dog should circle the tree so the squirrel comes around and gives you the shot.

I'm with Chester!

The best squirrel dog I ever had--in fact the best I've ever seen!--was, believe it or not, a Boston Bull Terrier. Never even trained him. He followed me out to the woods, saw what was up, and fell to!

Otherwise he was a stubborn, mean little shyte of a dog.

Quarters really? Rubbing two quarters sounds like a squirrel?

For rabbits, you hide behind a bush with a shotgun, and make a noise like a carrot.

I've heard about the quarter trick but, never tried it. Need to. I've done the barking with my voice and sometimes they'll move a little to help with a shot. I've got one of the hand operated calls with the bellows. It works sometimes but, not a miracle call.
