Rabbits... when to hunt

So I live in Texas. Aren't there certain months out of the year that you're not supposed to eat rabbit meat? I think I remember hearing something about that once, but not sure. I've thought about hunting them this year, but want to make sure before I get into it.

Thanks in advance.

The old wives tale is that you shouldn't eat rabbits until a hard frost to kill the fleas..

Not many hard frosts in Texas, are there??

I've killed rabbits in Wisconsin, in a foot of snow, after a hard freeze of 2 months and still found plenty of fleas on rabbits..

I shoot rabbits during rabbit season.. In Wisconsin, that's mid October til the end of Feb.. The die the same all season, and all taste !!!! good, too.

"Don't eat rabbits in months that don't have an 'R' for rabbit in them."

That pretty much boils down to the summer months: May, June, July, August. Supposedly that's when they have some kind of worm that's like trichinosis in pork, or so I've been told. Never seen a worm in rabbit meat myself, and I imagine it wouldn't matter anyway if you cooked it well-done.
