| Mr. Fixit ![]() | The only cals. other than a .22 that I've used on rabbits was a 7.62x39 (SKS) and 7.62x54R (M-39). Needless to say, the larger cals. don't leave much rabbit, even when shooting the big ole W. Tx. jackrabbits. FWIW, the SKS spread guts for almost 4 ft. using a Wolf 123 gr. H.P.

| I certainly agree about using a shotgun on rabbits and not a rifle. You may shoot so fasy you don't look an see where that bullet would go. Especially if your huntin around someones house.

| .177 air rifle, cheap to feed. Powerful and accurate enough to take out rabbits up to 40m. |

| Ive used a 16 and a 20 gauge on them in Michigan. Never got them to sit still long enough for rifle work.

| Bullet Maintenance !! ![]() | Up here you very rarely catch them in the open. And even then, a 22 might just piss them off. I have always hunted them with a 20ga, until I recenty found and refinished a Savage M24 .22/.410, which was my very first gun at age 10. So, this year I will be out and about with it. And if I catch a young one sitting, I might try a 22. But if it's full grown, I'm gonna use a slug in the .410....

| I have used 12 and 20 over the years but my top getter is a Stevens Mod 240 .410 O/U. I used Beagles and get right in with the rabbits with not over 20 foot shots. DANA |
