Did Your Sigma Break? A couple of people at smith-wessonforum.com have reported that the striker on their Sigma broke. One says this happened at about 600 rounds fired, the other at 6,600. Since I carry my Sigma 9mm for SD I'm very interested in this. Has this happend to you? If so, how many rounds did you have through the gun when it happened? THANKS!

Mine is still good. Got it used from my dad, I would say it has at least 500 rounds through it. Mine does not have the accesory rail.

97 SR20, Thanks for the feedback. I regret my Sigma model SW9VE is the only gun I own right now. It is also the first S&W I've ever bought. I'm trying to learn everything I can about this model as well as Smiths in general. Thanks again. Dave Last edited by CCWMan; 11-14-2007 at 03:43 PM. Reason: spelling

GOOD REVIEW There is a good review of the third generation or SW9VE Sigma at www.smith-wessonforum.com . There are also a few related threads. Most people say their Sigma will cycle anything they feed it, one person had a problem with hollow points.

CCWMan, I've had my s&w sigma 9ve, same as yours, for over two years now. I've stopped doing round count after about 5,000. So far, still going pretty good I'm really pleased with its accuracy. I keep it as my night stand weapon. ![]()

IT'S THE THIRD GENERATION I thought my SW9VE was the "second edition" as I was calling it. But I was wrong. There's a guy at smith-wessonforum.com who corrected me. I asked him what the differences were from previous generations and this is the answer I got: Any Sigma that has an equipment rail on it is the currently produced 3rd Gen "Enhanced" Sigma. -S&W added the equipment rail to strengthen the frame to prevent the dust cover from cracking. -Redesigned striker assembly from the loose tolerance chisel tip striker to a round striker system with all parts machined within .002" -Redesigned trigger assembly to correct the light primer strike issues. This resulted in about 2 pounds being added to the trigger pull weight. -Addition of the "Mass****" loaded chamber indicator, rounded top corners of the slide, checkering moulded into the sides of the grip and the lowering of the ejection port to correct the ejection problems in the 1st and 2nd Gens.

I have the original SW9f which was used as a LEO duty gun for eight years. I have put 1,000 rounds through it with no failures of any kind. I bought it last year and feel that it's safe for carry. The enhanced version SW9VE is even more reliable from what i've read.
