| S&W M&P15 I just bought a Smith and Wesson M&P15 at the last gun show in Des Moines for $800. So far I love it and am glad that I didn't go with a cheaper brand. I was just wondering about your guys's experiences with the M&P15 good or bad. ![]() |

after I broke in the gun I havn't had any malfunctions. as far as accuracy is concerned I am really surprised by how good it is for a semi-auto. adjusting the sights was easy and didn't take long at all to get it where i wanted it. this is my first AR so I don't really know how good the others are out there but I take my M&P coyote hunting and feel pretty confident about it. I shot at a running coyote from around 250 yards away and was putting them right in there. I didn't hit it but it was obviously my fault because it felt like I hit wherever I aimed and I didn't lead the coyote enough. sometime when it gets warmer I'll have to see what kind of groups I can get. | |

| I heard they are made by Stag Arms and privately labeled by S&W. That's good, because Stag Arms gets good reviews. Would the price be less by buying a Stag instead? |

| sorry I've been on vacation in Utah. I havn't heard that before but either way I got a good gun. as far as price I just looked at the Stag Arms website and a lot of their prices were below $1000 for a basic 16 inch carbine with the carry handle while the Smith retails for around $1300. so if you go by retail the Stag is less expensive but I got my Smith at a gunshow for $800 with a $100 rebate -_-. |

| Mitchell sounds like you got a great deal on your Smith. I purchased a RRA last fall and I have had a limited amount of time behind the sights. I hope to get some more shooting in soon. I am sure Smith and Wesson's AR is GTG. Hellow from a fellow Iowan! The Iowa State Patrol will be ordering S&W M&P15 for every trooper to have. They tested many brands to include RRA, Smiths, Stag, Bushmaster, DPMS and I am not sure what else. I think they ranked RRA, S&W, and either Stag or Bushmaster at the top three. I think RRA won the popular vote but S&W gave them a better deal. Of course the patrol has carred Smith and Wesson handguns for ever. When they switched from revolvers to autos in the 90's they stayed with smith and now they carry the M&P .40. No real suprise that they would stick with the same company.

| I'm sure they are of the same quality as any other firearm S&W makes or has made or will make. With that said, I don't think a Stag, RRA, Bushmaster, Armilite or similar to be cheaper. As for the price you paid, now that's cheap considering the MSRP on those. I'm guessing you got the M&P15 and not the M&P15T? But again, other then the name on it, I don't think they're any better then the ones mentioned above. JMHO
