WWII S&W M&P Victory Model Revolver.

Hello

I picked this S&W M&P Victory Model Revolver earlier this week. It is the British Contract Version, it fires the .380" Revolver Cartridge (aka in the US as .38 S&W), with five inch barrel. The finish is a bit dodgy looking, but it seems to be mechanicaly sound with a good bore. I have been wanting one of these for a while and very grateful to find this one.

Also in the photo is a Canadian-made .380" Mk. II Cartridge box from 1943, a lanyard, and British blanket.

My next quest is to find a US version of the Victory Model.

Good score, I love the lanyard. I kinda wish I had bought a few of the vic's before the prices went sky high.

I Picked up this South of The Border special in a Local Gun shop which is a U.S. Version. Evidently someone in Mexico who was rather Important had a fondness for it and transformed it into his personal Favorite. I did not have the heart to fire it as it had not ben fired since it was engraved so I swapped it off even for a S&W model 25-5 Target revolvers instead... Hammerdown

I have no idea, but was told the Crest Motiff on them was Mexican in nature. I think they were made somewhere in Mexico.. Hammerdown

I appreciate your kind words, but I swapped it for a model 25-5 in .45 Colt Caliber. I had $325.00 in it, so that was a cheap way for me to upgrade to a .45 Colt Handgun... Here is what I swapped for.. Hammerdown

If I am going to post a photo of the Revolver...might as well post a photo of bits of holster and other odds and sods.

Here is the Pattern-1937 Webbing for a soldier issued with a revolver. The kit is incomplete for an officer, missing are the case for the binoculars and officer's haversack. Included is: the Pattern-1937 Belt, Holster (aka Pistol Case), above that is the ammunition pocket for revolver cartridges, the pocket on the other side is for a compass, basically the same piece of kit, but with a rigid fibre piece in the front part of the pocket and lined with thick felt to protect the compass, and the braces that connect to the belt.
Also in photo is a cartridge box that held 12 rounds of .380" Mk.II Revolver cartridges, inert dummy cartridges that I made using "reworked" .38 Special case. And a 10 packet of Player's and Woodbine Ciggies (reproduction) and box of England's Glory matches, also a Reproduction.

My first Smith&Wesson was a pristine Victory model in .38 special. I used it to qualify with, and before I sold it (which thing I regret with a purple passion!), I had put more than two thousand rounds through it, and it was still beautiful and performing perfectly without a hitch. I believe the Model 10, in it's many forms to be one of the most perfect handguns ever designed. Never sell that M&P, and enjoy it as long as you live. It is one of the greatest handguns of all time.

I hope to find a Victory Model in .38 Special as well. Simply because my Dad had one (actually three) during the War. So I start the search for one this Spring. Until then, I have a S&W M&P Model 10-5 with 4" standard barrel from circa 1967 that is .38 Special. It is close, but not the same as an actual Victory Model, needless I will hang on to it.

The Smith and Wesson Victory model has been on my wish list for a while. They seem to come and go at a reasonable price on GB.

I don't think I'm even close to my quota on cool things...LOL. Compared to one of my best friends and other's collections I have seen...I don't even come close to matching theirs LOL. But...I am very grateful for what I do have at this time.
