Welcome to G&G, ryanb. If your first gun is truly a Military & Police revolver (aka pre-Model 10) then its DOB is a mystery to me. The serial number C 985x doesn't match my charts. Your model 36 was made around 1961/1962. To our members: Let's show some consideration to the new guy. He posted his questions on the Smith & Wesson sub-forum. |

The only thing Supica & Nahas has to say is that it dates between 1948 and 1967 (C1-C999999), so my guess would be late 40s/early 50s. What front sight does it have? In 1952, the front sight was changed from a round blade to a ramp. Also, does it have an upper sideplate screw? This was deleted starting in 1957. Rich

A big thanks to those who give me some great information. Mooseman, It has the blade sights and the upper screw. Madcrate, I will post pictures soon. The M36 gun is in really good shape not sure if it has been re-blued or not. |
