I don't really have an opinion. I have an XD9SC that I like. I've never held or shot a Glock, so I don't know about them. I was in my favorite gun shop today and the shop keeper was saying that the Glocks are sitting in the display and the XDs are moving out the door. That's all I know.

I have an xd9 compact with a xlm light. Done Hume sells a leather shoulder holster so i can carry my xd with the light. The holster is very comfortable and this xd9 has never missfired on any ammo i have used.

Welcome to the forums!

I also want a shoulder holster Don Hume. I don't really need the one with the light though.

lemme get this straight...You disliked glocks SOOO much that you went ahead and probalby spent a year of your personal time to track down and purchase a glock 18? (AND YOU SOLD IT?!?!?!)And now you want to badmouth them? Also, why the heck would you drop your XD in sand, saltwater and mud? I keep better care of my guns and for the record, glocks NEVER jam. I've found out that most people talk bad about guns because they have never fired one or cant afford one.

I agree. I have a Glock 26 and I love it; but when I went in to purchase a Glock 21 the sales person encouraged me to try a XD45ACP. The handfit was much better for me than the 21. It also "pointed" better, which XD advertising brags about. In my safe now is the XD45.

Ok...after a long day of window shopping I was leading the gunsalesman on that I was gonna walk out with a gun. I was comparing the XD45 and the Smith and Wesson M&P.45, I must say...I prefer the smith

I have a XD subcompact and it was very accurate and reliable until an internal part cracked. I was only using winchester white box. I guess that's why SA has a lifetime warranty.

I have shot both and I would take my XD over any Glock.

Glock was my first semi auto pistol, It never jammed, cant say anything bad about it. I like the XD cant it never jams cant say anything bad about it either. However the XD fits my hand better so I would go with the XD. Both guns shoot with the same accuracy for me, either one you pick will be a good choice.

from what i've heard the XD is basically a glock with an extra safety and different name,(with a lower price tag, although i saw glocks for only like $60 more than the XD sitting by them in my wal mart) i've shot about a box through an XD45, and assuming that's an indication of all XDs i will never hesitate to buy an XD.

My wife has a XD 9mm subcompact and loves it. She even let's me shoot it sometimes. It has never malfuctioned in over 2000 rounds. Wish I could say that about my Beretta. And it cost more than the XD.

Ok first off cubbie the fact that your wal-mart carries glocks is awesome if i'm reading that right.
Second I was browsing through my local gunshop today with all intent on putting a down payment on a glock 17. Held it, stroked it, squeezed it. Its a nice peice of equipment.
Then out of no where this beautiful shine caught my eye it was the XD9 in bi-tone, complete with factory rail.
The gun feels like an extension of my arm, it just fits, now the glock fit nice too, but not this nice. I looked at the 9mm and the 40, they are the same price a hair under 500.00. I just cannot decide but for the price I will be picking one of these up in the near future. Probably the 9mm just for that sexy black and stainless. Oh yea and I love the fact it has a safety like a glock, and like a 1911, its like they took the two best weapons and said,"Hey look what we can do"

Does anyone have any info as to the price on a black and stainless .40 in their area and If I can get a green with a stainless slide, they don't show it on the springfield website but I think it would be sweet.

I have to chime in on this one. I think that the XD is a very nice piece. I also think that the Glock is very nice as well. If I had to choose between the two of them I would take the XD though only cause it has some features that make it alittle safer and easier to use. I have never had a problem with a Glock and I have personally fired more than 500 Rounds thru a Model 21. Without any trouble. If you had trouble with yours you should have someone look at it and see whats actually wrong with it. If you don't take care of it, it won't take care of you. That goes with any firearm.

I was really into the laser sights a while back. There is one that you can put into the grip, that way you don't have to have your finger on the trigger that was really nice. I can't remember the name of it. I decided against it once I decided my xD would be my carry gun.

The great thing about the XD is the rail, so you can mount a light or a laser, and then run the switch to the grip. Very Handy
