XD Sight Problem!

Help please! I just got an XD Tactical in 9mm and really like the gun. But, I need to drift the rear sight to the right just a hair to zero it and it WILL NOT budge. I have clamped it and used a punch and hammer and have hit it pretty hard but it just won't move.

Is there a trick to getting the sight to move just a little? Any way to loosen it up just a bit in the dovetail so I can move it where I need it? Oil? Heat? Cold? Something else?

Any help appreciated. Thanks.

I didn't think the rear sight was adjustable...

It's not an "adjustable" sight but the rear sight sits in a dovetail and can be drifted right or left to correct windage. Just can't get this one to move.

You would be better off takeing the gun with you to a Gunsmith and ask him to show you what you need to do.
Though you may not can tell, some rear sights are slightly tapered like I found on a Glock.
You might just loosen it.

You need a sight tool to do the job. Since the xD uses a SIG mount, you need a SIG sight tool. I think Brownell's will have the tool you want. It's a tad bit over $100, but will get the job done.

You could use a hammer and punch, but you could also screw it up more ways that sunday doing it that way.

What is the average cost to have some good sights placed on a pistol by a competent gunsmith? Looking to maybe place some night sights on the XD. Will Springfield do it if you buy the sights from them?

How far off is this shooting if you only need to move the sight a hair? How many different ammos have you tried? Maybe I'm off a bit here, but these are made for defense shooting and police/military use. Can you reliably hit the silhouette target offhand? Is that enough accuracy for you? It is for me with my fixed sight guns. If I need to shoot in defense I am not going to be worried about a "zero" like I would a target pistol. This may not be worth the trouble and expense of pursuing.

A smith would have a jig he can lock the slide up in and push it either way
