xd verse glock please help a newbie

Hi I am new to this forum, I have a question about semi pistols? I have never owned a pistol I have owned lots of revolvers though, my question is this I was considering a 40s&w or 9mm for ccw and I was looking at getting a glock 26,27 or springfield xd 9 mm or 40. I was in the glock forum and I read where two of the guys had there glock 40 s&w go K-boom in there hands and then I read reviews in different places about the same thing happening with other glocks. I have to tell you this concerns me, can anyone tell me if springfield is having this problem or is it just because glock has so many guns out there that you just hear about them more? I read something about the xd being fully supported with the ammo dont quite know what that means and that you can use lead in xd where you cant with glock, can anyone help me I know this is springfield forum but what do you guys think which cal and which gun? thanks.

I am not sure why they happen. Some say it's because GLOCK's have an unsupported chamber at the feed ramp. Mine is 3d GEN and has as much support as any handgun. I have also been told not to reload fired brass from a GLOCK but I do and have had no problems.
I believe part is user fault and maybe bad reloads. There may well be some bad GLOCK firearms made, no company is perfect but if the company was found at fault they would be sued to death in todays society.
I have a 23 and 27, I have had them less than six months and have 1,800 rounds thru the 23 and close to 1,100 thru the 27 with one failure to feed in the 27 due to a bad round. I trust my GLOCk's and use them for concealed carry and plinking.
Over half the rounds I have fired were reloads, but not maxed out and I used my fired brass. I have also used plated bullets using starting load data for bullet type.
By the way my GLOCK's like 165gr JHP's best.
Some use lead bullets but they must be hardcast and I would say with a gas check and check for leading quite often, and not loaded to the max.

The Glock Kabooms were caused primarily from reloads. Don't shoot reloads and you WILL NOT HAVE ANY PROBLEMS.

I've had my Glock, M35 for about 8-10 years and in that time the only problem I've ever had was 1 stove piped empty brass. Caused by either a kind of limp round or the way I was gripping it. It can happen if you lighten up on your grip to much during recoil.

If you're worried about the Kabooms, most were sometime ago and nothing recent that I know of. But the few Kabooms in comparison to ALL of the Glocks out there that civilians own and law enforcement have and use, the percentage of incidents has to be less than 1/2 a percent, IF EVEN THAT.

I can't speak much for or about the Springfield XDs other then they're also a polymer framed semi-auto pistol; more than likely developed to try and get some of the Glock market. So if there was anything wrong with the design, as far as the few Kabooms, I doubt there'd be so many manufactures trying to get into the Glock market.

Go to your local dealer, see if they have 1 or 2 of each brand you can rent and give them all a try. Go with what feels the best in your hands and what you shoot the best with. Good luck with what ever you choose and please remember to let us know and post a picture or 2.

I second this ... one person's opinion on what you should get should be your own. Try them out... everyone's hands are different sizes and certain grips fit your hands best. Comfort is key... you really can't go wrong either way...
