XD Cleaning Question - Black Finish

I've noticed that the more I fire and clean my gun the more the black finish comes off the barrel. Is anybody else experiencing this? Is my solvent to astringent? Am I cleaning it correctly?

Finish is probably being polished off by the spring. You could degrease, and hit it with Birchwood Casey Super Blue & make it black again for a while if you like. I'll just keep my XD barrel lightly oiled & suffer with it.

I will just really surprised at how fast the finish wears off.

Mine is totaly worn off on my .40 sub but it also has about 5,000 rounds and many cleanings. I use Gun Scrubber and Rem Oil to clean it.

With only 150 rds thru it I would think you may be over cleaning it. One of the selling points for me was the test by I think it was Guns & Ammo where they ran over 15,000 rds thu the XD without cleaning and without any failures. I have an XD sub compact 9mm---10 months old--and have ran up to 600 rds thru it just to verify it would do it and it functioned perfectly. I have over 1700 rds at this time and yes I clean it every couple of hundred rds but the finish still looks new after cleaning. You also may have just got one that the surface finish wasn't done properly.

Note: letting it go for 600 rds and then cleaning is NOT fun. It was really baked on. I prolly won't do that again.
