Bought a new XD .4o today!

Went to the gun show today, and bought a new XD 40,(4" barrel).
$511.00 out the door. This is my first S/A. I haven"t had a chance
to clean or shoot it yet, mabe this coming weakend. The gun sure
does fell better in my hand then what my glock does. I have only
played with it a little bit just to get the fill of it.the only thing i
have a problem with is releaseing the slide forward, with or without
the clip in the gun. The slide lock lever is very hard to pull down.
Is this normal, or am i doing something wrong? Please share a little
input on this.

(THANKS) Larry!

wait till you have put a few hundred rounds and see if that helps. right now the spring is putting a lot of pressure backwards and after a few hundred rounds its easyer to rack and which should make it easyer to push the lock down.
personally i say give it about 300 rounds

Try using the overhand grasp of the slide to release it. It saves the thumb.

Thanks for the good info. I"ll shoot two or three hundred rounds
through it and see if that will loosen it up a bit. I"ll get back to
you to let you know how it"s comeing along.

(Thanks) Larry!

Outlaw, I too, purchased that model in a 3" barrel....

A delightful pistol, IMHO and you got it cheaper than me....

You'll love it! It has a double recoil spring (don't know the proper name), but it is one soft shooter. You will find the recoil mild and the barrel comes down for a second shot very quickly. Yup, you'll love it!

Great choice. I bought my first XD and I was hooked. I now have 2 XD;s and 2 XDM plus a Springfield 1911. I can't wait for the .45 to come out in XDM. I'll have one of those immediately.

Good on you. After about 300 to 600 rond your slide will break in and loosen up. I wouldent trade my XD for any pistol out there.

+ 1,000 The XD is, in my opinion, the best seld defense gun on the market when you figure the gun you get for what you pay. I predict XD will make "Golck" a word of the past in the next few years.
