to the G&G admins/mods and members. please read

could we have a little dedicated Mosin Nagant trading/selling thread on this board? for trading mosin stuff for other stuff and vice versa?

I would like a thread like that here. besides the political topics board, basically, this is the only forum I frequent.

whats the general opinion of the Mosin board regulars and the admins/mods on a thread like that?

I added a poll.

I like the idea. The Nagant rifle does have a small but dedicated (almost said "cult") following. There might even be one or two forum members who own as many as two, or even in extreme cases, three of these rifles. I think Gandog has one.

Gunney,

Chris has a forum for it set up already.

I know Griz, and I've used it. just thought it would be nice to have one thread for mosin stuff only. the title could be something like "The Mosin Exchange Thread" nothing to drastic, I bet it would mainly be used for trading little stuff like stripper clips, slings, ammo pouches, brass, bayo's, stocks, scopes and mounts, or whatever. I hate tying up space on a board for little stuff like that. if its not something Chris would approve of thats fine. I am not looking to break any rules, thats why I asked. thanks for chiming in too!

I think it would open a can of worms. No disrespect, but if a Mosin Exchange Thread were to be created, then how could a Mosin thread be justified, and not a similar thread for every other firearms manufacturer?

Again, respectfully, but in my mind there's nothing any more special about Mosin than there is about Colt, Winchester, Marlin, Browning, etc.

Just my two cents... and, it's not up to me...

Ewwww! Don't let Gannie hear you call a MOSIN a Nagant! He will cloud up, get all ugly in the face and remind you that a Nagant is a Pistol! Now me, as a more experienced Mosin owner (12 down from 19) would not be so rude.

I do not want to vote "No, bad idea", as it isn't a bad idea. Just not, IMO, a feasable one.

A forum has to keep an eye on the sale/trade areas to make certain things are done correctly and within the law (usually 99.9% done that way anyway though).

Another selling section would place extra presure/resposibilities on our already busy Mods.

I'd rather vote "PASS", than No.

Stick to the already established selling/trading section. Keep things simple and avoids putting one over the other.

I think it ought to be a sub-Forum in the Trading Post. Unlike most of the other firearms that have their own sub-Forums, the Mosin Nagant has enough parts at affordable prices that the programming to set it up can be justified. The only other firearms for which that could be justified are the AR series and the AK series rifles/carbines.

So why do you need your own thread instead of using the trading post forum?

Just so you don't have to look somewhere?

Would it get better if you just subscribed to the trading post, mosin forum show when you click on "New Threads" ?

I voted no for those reasons...

The Trading Post forum is pretty dead anyway so you have no trouble finding the recent threads.

Personally, I have not been able to sell a thing there. The fact that you cannot modify the original post is rather annoying. You can't lower prices in the first post or mark it as sold in the title.

What are the rules regarding WTB/WTS or links to same in the Mosin Nagant forum anyway?

True, about the trading post area. We need to find a way to get folks using it more!

Seems other forums that is one of the most used areas! I wonder why it never caught on here.

I dunno. just an idea. most us Mosin Owners are a dedicated group and mainly "hang out" on the Mosin board. I liked the idea but I wouldn't start a thread if it broke the rules of the site.

thanks for listening though, and the PM heads up, that you moved this thread! at least we can communicate with the staff here, and that's one reason I think G&G rocks.

I don't recall anyone saying that. its just that the trading post area doesn't get much traffic. I recently hooked a fellow member up with a nice factory stock he was looking for and I only found out that he needed a factory stock because he had a thread about the project on the Mosin Nagant board. I guess thats what I'm driving at.

Well sir, to my knowledge, nobody that I can recall has ever asked for a for an "Exchange thread" specifically for their favorite brand of firearm. To me, that in itself speaks to being special. Is there a reason that Mosin firearms should have their own exchange thread? Should bandwidth be afforded to every other manfacturer for the same reason? My point is that low traffic can be cured by posting WTB, WTS, and WTT ads, in the Market Place forum as it is.

it was never about that. It was just about making something easier, maybe fun, and a neat way to trade stuff with other members. IMO, it would save some bandwidth and the vote tally so far does express an interest. I love this forum and I wasn't looking to argue with anyone. please consider this matter closed.
