locking threads is evil

I really don't like it when admins lock threads.
Especially threads where PAPA G goes on to call people names
and say other stupid stuff.
If you're going to lock those threads, you might as well
delete them.

Why deny sensible people the chance to respond,
while preserving PAPA G's crap ?
Just get rid of it

It's always a bad deal when people disagree to the point of becomming ugly. I am singling NO ONE out, as I have inadvertantly come off as offensive my self.

Locking a thread IMOHO, isn't indended to save the opinions of the assumed violator as much as it is to respect the others who have taken their time to respond in a constructive way.

We can always revert to the free site theory and the owners can do as they wish. I have not seen everyone agree with Chris, Jesse or any of the other Mods 100% of the time. This just mirrors real life. I think they do the best they can given the situation at the time.

General rule of thumb to follow, me any way. Relax, talk guns, have fun

What the heck did I miss this time?...sheesh........take a nap and all heck's broken loose.

My thoughts on locking threads is that usually the offensive person gets the last say and THAT AIN'T RIGHT!

There you go again.
The thread became locked shortly after YOU
called everyone pussies.
Your first instinct is to spew insults
which have nothing to do with the topic at hand,
and by so doing you get the moderators to lock the thread.
Thus all that stands is your message.
That is not a discussion, that is propaganda.
Instead of deleting your message,
the moderators lock the thread giving you the last word.
It would be more democratic to either censor your insults,
or just expunge the entire discussion,
rather than endorsing your message by leaving it up there.
It's not a discussion.

Moderators shouldn't censor opinions they don't agree with,
that's not democratic and only serves to dimish this site.

Threads are closed as a way to end problematic trends and topics WITHOUT censorship of opinion. The admins and mods are trying to keep things civil while not being revisionistic like some other sites.

Maybe the admins think that's what they're doing,
but by not allowing others to get their opinion in
they are effectively censoring opinion,
instead of just censoring the s*** from one foul mouth

It's the Admin's call, as it's their site. Remember gents, we are in their house. If we don't want to get locked or worse, we must keep it clean!
We can discuss our differing views without resorting to DemLib tactics!

'Nuff said. :cheer:

NoCal; Admin closes a thread when certain people who do not agree with one another start assailing with name calling and derogatory slander which has nothing to do with the post.

Its their option - its the best thing they can do with out banning everyone in site.

This site is free. You spend time here, post your opinions, use the board as a soapbox, and I pay for it. Sometimes threads get out of hand due to someone's bad day or midlife crisis. We close them as a result. Time to move on.

Thats the problem with donations...people donate and they think they now own a piece of the community.

Then they get mad when they still have to follow rules just like everyone else

Hey, whatever happened to most of the site sponsors, like BlackJack and Tapco?

Cool

Papa G,I've yakked with you for quite a few years, before G&G broke up and some became "outcasts",and you were always the most stable of the crew, but man, lately you seem to be coming unglued.
Now that is to be expected of me,hence my name,RAVE,but you always seemed to be the father figure to the group,at least to me,and I respect you and your opinions.
I guees you, like any other person can only take so much and now you are like a ticking bomb.I have noticed that many on this and the other forum are apparently reaching their limit of tolerance of any differing opinions, that's true to a certain extent of most of us,but then again I can only speak for myself, lest I set off a possible confrontation and violent explatives, and of course corrections from my scholarly betters such as Nathen. That's OK,I can stand a bit of criticism, and can learn from my mistakes.
I am a conservative Republican, voted Republican all my 62 years and voted for GW twice, although I am a bit disappointed and surprised at how his second term going. 911 didn't help.and it has put a strain on all of us,it is starting to show.
Any how I still respect you and find you a likeable person, but may I suggest that you try and get a grip, times is hard and we all need to try and get along,as a group we are on the same page.
Respectfully RAVE. :cheer:
