The lacquered stuff is ALL i use, because it's cheaper, and because that derned brass is too expensive and the steel is more resistant to the stresses of feeding and ejecting. Plus, I can sell scrap steel cases for more than I can sell scrap brass (I'm too cowardly to reload lest I blow my thumb off)
Dang trolls coming in here insulting people. Lacquered ammo FTW. I've used wolf and it's amazing, both in my Mosin Nagants and my WASR 10/63

Just love it when they treat you like a 4 year old and think you have a live round in there too.... but rubber mallet or piece of wood and a firm wack always fixes it. I have heard that people remove the laquer from those coated shells before they shoot sometimes... Just a thought, you might want to try that.
Dont insult everyones intelligence by saying we cant clean our guns. | I've used Brown Bear and Wolf without a hitch but I use it selectively in my Ruger Mini-30. If you are having problems I agree it is most likely your rifle not the ammo.
Demonstrated by your rude rant, I can understand why they treat you like a 4 year old.
I have seen no insults to anyone about cleaning their weapons; just your immature rant.

| brown bear does jam in a bolt action
I never get a jam on anything but brown bear, so i dont see how it can be my gun. I just put in my 2 cents, it only happens with brown bear, not brass. O yeah, my post was so rude, give me a break.

I use the coated ammo all the time without any problems either. I have heard many grips about using wolf in ARs, but mine shoots the heavy ball rounds great. I can't remember the exact bullet wieght, but I think it is around 75grains. I use the Silver bear softpoints in .308 in my Saiga without a hitch, as well as brown bear in my Makarov. Try using a bit of elbow grease when you clean your firearm, and be sure to add some lube once the cleaning is done |

i use a lot of brown bear, golden tiger, wolf, all without anyproblems........ i do think that wolf shoots a tiny bit dirtyer than the others but thats just nit picking.
and if your gun shoots everything just fine except brown bear....................just dont buy brown bear!!!
p.s we have a fairly low tolerance for rudeness bere on this forum..... so get used to being polite or you will probably end up getting banned....
we remain the friendlest forum on the net buy NOT being rude.

I've found it shoots better in my Yugo SKS than Wolf. It cuts my groups in half, for the most part, but each gun will be different.. |
+1
I've been told to stick to brown or golden bear for AK's because the zinc can gum up your magazines.
I've always like lacquer coated, longer shelf life.
Different weights will give you different groups. I'm PRETTY sure the Yugo SKS's have a more aggressive rate of twist in the barrel which is intended for use with 154gr bullets. Lighter bullets tend to arch in strange ways with such barrels.

i was planning on buying some silver bear but i didnt know it would gum up your mags. so i guess i will save a few dollars and buy some brown bear...thanks

It has been proven by the BOX O Truth that the lacquer does not melt under the heat of a blowtorch, your gun doesn't get that hot. Don't buy it and leave more for the rest of us. If your having jam problems its a prob with your gun, especially if your having jams in an AK platform. |
I was shooting Brown Bear today and it definently melts, try picking up around that has been fired. thats why i dont like it, i didnt have any problems with my gun while shooting it, but its just nasty.

My experiance with all the laquer coated stuff is that it flakes off and goes everywhere on the inside of the lower receiver. That having been said it is nothing a littel Hopps #9, or Gunscrubber won't fix, it does not even take that much effort too clean. I normally shoot the cheepest stuff I can find. I have never had it "coat", or "glaze" my bolt or extractor. My only concern with the steel cased ammo is running it through my AR's which have aluminum fraims, I am afraid of pitting and putting dings on the ejection port. But everyone says it is not a problem. I am just to timmid to try it out on my AR's, Both my Mini-30, and AK's love the stuff. I have even used the carossive Yugo ammo and never had a problem. The best ammo for commi guns is commi ammo.

Dont insult everyones intelligence by saying we cant clean our guns. | I have put through my S&W AR 15, 2,800 (exactly) all Brown Bear laquer coated Steel cases and never once, I mean not once, have I had a problem. If I would have had a problem I would never buy the stuff again. Fixing to replenish my supply with another 1400 more rounds of the Brown Bear 55gr hollow point. I guess I am not one of those "everyones" you were talking about. Brown bear is good stuff for the money and shoots very well in my S&W AR.
