For those who like to read: Robinson Crusoe. The middle of the novel is very detailed as to how he survived on the island as a castaway on a day to day basis. Truly fascinating. One of the great reads ever.

Movie: The Magnicent Seven; Just about anything by John Wayne, The Zorro movies with Antonyo Bandaras. Let me add Open Range w/Robert Duval and Kevin Cosner. While Cosner is not one of my favorite actors, Robert Duval is; so it kinda evens things out. Cyrille Last edited by Cyrille; 08-19-2007 at 03:35 PM. Reason: adding more information | |

The Good, the Bad and The Ugly! Plus about half the movies you guys mentioned already. But, I didn't get into the alien/predator thing too much. I like the more traditional. Red Dawn would get my vote for best "Survival" type movie. |

"Man in the Wilderness" Gritty, bloody saga of a man, left for dead by fellow trappers after being ripped to shreds by a bear. A true story, though if you want to look it up on the Internet, the mountain man's real name was Hugh Glass (not "Zachary Bass"). He managed (with no equipment or weapons) to get 200-300 miles to Fort Kiowa, and actually took no revenge on either of the two men who left him to die. One, interestingly enough, was a youth -- later very famous -- named Jim Bridger. ************************************************* All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing |

| Ravenous ![]() And Carpenter's The Thing is just amazing. Blood test scene still gets me. For something more realistic and fascinating, has anyone else ever seen Never Cry Wolf? That film is awesome, about someone really learning to survive up north. - Coeloptera |

I heard only bad things about the marine. I never did like John Cena. |
