Like many have said, it is really hard to say until you are in that situation. Of course, I tend to hope that I would be able to band together with other to help the total group. But even in some situations like that, parties going out to find supplies would be a normal thing. Hopefully it would never come to killing another person to take there stuff, but it may happen. It is just hard to say. Of course, trade is going to make a big come back in the world between groups to help survive.

Well, bravo30 has stated that he would kill...rob...murder me if I had the last can of Campbell's Chunky Sirloin Burger Soup, and he needed it. So, there is your intruder/looter/murderer mentality. Here's the guy we're all preparing against, stating in public that he is from the rabble that would attack and loot us. I do not personally think that society will collapse on a long-term time scale. But in a short-term emergency my plan is to be well stocked and well armed to defend my stock against the likes of bravo30. Do pick an easier target than me...

The question posed was whether you would murder your fellow man to get his SPAM.

I've been watching Man verses Wild and theres a lot that can be learned about survival from watching this show.
Theres plenty of wild life and bugs where i live so I will eat them. I'm not killing anyone for there stash.
I can see it now...Someone comes into my camp with a gun and yells give me all your food !! I'll say see those cans and jars over there, help your self. The intruder opens a jar and finds Grubs, roaches, worms LOL...Lol Oh well would you like some green pine needle tea ?...A.H

Man, you hit that nail...

I live in the desert so Scorpions, Snakes, critters and the occasional bug will keep my and my boy alive..
Plus there is so much water in Cacti around here..

But taking a life to survive, doesn't sound like a great idea.

I think Trigger had it right..

Just harken back to WW2 era France and what happened to the Nazi sympathizers..they got what they deserved after the USA liberated them..

and the same would probably happen to the "guy" who took lives to save his own..

And I would be leading the charge for punishment..

After The Event, every local bubba hits the woods to 'shop' - soon no critters. Farmer's fields are stripped by the two-legged locusts if the harvest was near. Weather has the fish hinky - can't get a nibble.

When you see the hunger in the eyes of your four year old daughter . . .

You'll become the Devil's right-hand man to feed the family.

That's why a good community group helping each other - guarding the food as well as making it, will be essential.

An interesting read is SM Stirling's "Dies The Fire". It's a bit hokey, in that all electric technology is rendered inoperable by a pulse of some kind, but there is no nuke. And (the hokey part) gunpowder is inoperable, too. People go through an adjustment where many die, and (the interesting part) old fashion clans emerge for either conquest or survival, depending on the mind set of the members.

Well total Anarchy was mentiond in The original post. At this point in time total anarchy in the USA is next to impossible. I highly doubt that enough people could aggree on enough issius to make it happen. But if if it did and supplies ran low enough, could i kill someone for my own life? maybe if i was absoulty almost dead and i had a family to support, the thought might cross my mind, do i have the balls to do it? well i hope i never have to find out. and if there was anarachy would it be illigle? if the goverment fell than wouldent its laws fall with it? and can the new govermant ( becuase history has proven that soicty cant govern them selves with out some sort of control) charge you with crimes you commited before it came about?

Hey! Did you guys notice that bravo30 was banned from the site? Must be that Chris doesn't want his kind of non-constructive threads...

Geetings to all,
I also see that Bravo 30 has been labelled banned and was wondering how and when this decision was taken as his original post shows banned too??or was that done that retrospectivly?.
I personally found his comments to be extreme, menacing and distastefull, however I also found a certain value in thier harshness in so much as I was forced to really confront myself with the question he posed and have dwelt on the matter for the past few days, tossing the scenario around in my mind continously examining my own morales and how far I would go to sustain myself and those close to me.
I cannot yet after much contemplation in all honesty say with absolute certainty how I would react if placed in a sieze by force or perish scenario and hope never to have to find out.
I am however certain I have no plans to stalk and kill my neighbours with the aid of night vison for no apparent reason.
I would hope that I would be able to maintain my decency as a human being and find an alternative to preying on my neighbours.
Possibly the only lesson that I can draw from comments by Bravo30 would be that if there are many others out there that hold his views we all would regardless of our own convictions be forced into a kill or be killed situation.
In which case I am sure that good men will prevail.
"A strong man defends himself,a stronger man defends others"Regards.
