Burke is Right...
Black dog #1
Black and white Dog #2
White Dog #3

In a survival Situation it will be a man eat dog World at some point possibly. Then it will be Grubs, worms and Bugs and mice.
If you aren't ready to eat ANYTHING, you are not ready to survive. Period.

I would consider a dog as an advantage in a shtf situation. I used to live right next to the interstate "I-59" so i would ocassionally get people wandering off the interstate to my house. Most people were just broke down needing to use a phone, or women needing some help changing a flat. I was always very nervous about these people coming to my house at whatever hours of the night, so I let my ex-hog dog bull dog off his chain and just be a yard dog. He never had bitten anyone but i assure you that when someone came walking into my yard I knew about it and the trespassers knew if they tried anything stupid they may be missing a leg.

Oh and he was the tasty black and white one.

All I have right now is a pug (wifes dog, I will be getting an akita) and while not a good defense dog she is very good at letting us know when anyone is about and that usually gives me more than ample time to prepare, if preparation is necessary.

My Dog bites hard as hell, and can run at least 3X my speed. She's pretty big too

Like I always say "Dog's don't need to be reloaded"

My dog also listens to my commands as well, which would make her very good in hard situations

She's gotten a bit bigger now

Here's a pic of my two, they are both rescues and are pretty good hunters and guard dogs.

what kind of dog would you suggest for protection and hunting and loyalty? I don't have one but I did have a pit bull once.

Everyone will have a different opinion. For me if I was getting a pure breed I'd go with a Lab. I think the Lab is a great all around dog, good size, smart, takes to training, good bird/hunting dog and also a good guard dog. They also tend to do well with children. Of course the most important part is the time you can invest. No matter the breed, if you can't take the time to train it and work with the dog it won't matter. Mind you both of my dogs are mixed, one is a Golden Retriever and German Shepherd, the other is a Lab and Boxer.

I have no problem with eating dog, but I do have a problem with eating my best friend. If I were to take a very loyal dog with me, I would be eating everything else before I ate my dog. Like Mooseman said, you're not ready to survive if you're not ready to eat anything. If it came to the point where I had to eat my dog to survive, I would give in. How much longer would I survive after that? It isn't worth it.

IF you want an excellent dog for protection and loyalty look into an African BOERBOEL it means farmer dog they are part of the Mastiff family they can reach 200lbs and are very affectionate with children they will defend the house and the family to the death but are very docile look them up some time
