yes ive heard of it. i always thought threading one or both ends and maybe adding an O ring. from a shipping company you can buy packages of dessicant in different sizes. the shipping companies are a lot cheaper than gun places. it you got a BIG pipe threader you would be in business.

Good idea for tornadoes and hurricanes and other natural disasters. I don't know what I'm gonna do when zombies attack though. PVC pipe is not impervious to robot zombies though.

For all sealed containers for iron-steel (GUNS) you must glue even with threads but you must add something that oxidizes very easily.Powdered magnesium is best.It will oxidise very easily keeping any oxygen away from the steel and preventing rust. There are others, you just have to look them up.They just have to be sealed in with your guns but not touching them. This would work for food or ammo as nothing can spoil or corode without oxygen. sam.

I am not sure about PVC for food storage. Plastic food containers used commercially have to be approved by the National Sanitary Foundation. PVC may be approved, but it may not. I would check on this before I stored emergency food.
