Only other place I would move to is Ireland, and not Northern Ireland either, but the Republic of. I don't know what the gun laws there are, but they have the fastest growing economy, it goes up by 7% or more each year. And most of my family is still over there. Maybe I could join the IRA, haha.

My girl and I have a place in mind that we wouldn't mind going to if SHTF.

I among you love this country, and would protect it's constitution and my state's to the greatest ability.

But I think it is worth remembering that those brave souls who gained our independence were'nt lingering survavilists fighting for the past, but brave mand and women who left their homelands in a time of oppression to begin anew.

That being said, my gut feeiling is that whatever it is that causes the SHTF scenario is not man, nor virus, nor physical thing - but rather, a culmination of ideas. Ideas that one man deserves more than another because he wears a tie. Ideas that a man truly doesn't own the land he lives on. Ideas that we must hate and be against anyone of different creed or color. Going else where won't stop the perpetuation of such ideas, and it may do more good to begin fighting with our minds now, so the oppertunity to do so with our guns later does not come.

Going from state to state sounds as bad as going from Country to country, why do they continually keep making more & more State & city laws. Why not just have one set for the whole country? Is it just "jobs for the boys"? Every tier seems to have to add their two cents worth and add more obstacles for normal people to overcome and then you need more damn politicos to administer these new obstacles. Isn't it time the politicians started going over all the legislation and throwing out that which doesn't work or strangles development.

I don't know of any country with as many gun rights as we have here. I've been to Beliez and citizens and residents can own certain fire arms but there are a lot of restrictions including maximin calibre sizes. Most latin american countries Ive been to allowed some fire arm ownership but by their standards, New Jersey or Calif. gun laws would seem liberal and reasonable! I have noticed that the Spanish speaking countries are less restrictive than the ones onced ruled by Great Briton.

It mostly depends on who gets the most campain money to the politicians and how many voters are gun owners.Did you really dream that any of our gun laws were passed by anyone with good sense??? sam.

I think I've said before, but I don't believe many laws are passed by people with much common sense, let alone good sense.

I beleive Capt was moved to honor when he read the Pledge and put his hand over his heart. Which was very honorable.
I didn't at all take it as sartistic.

I took the same oath years ago. I don't remember anyone saying that it only counts while you are on active duty. Do they say the Pledge of Allegiance in school anymore?

I said the pledge of allegiance in middle school about 6 years ago every morning. in high school, it was a different story. we had a club called the "gay straight alliance" which pretty much just made more lost teenagers experiment stuff. people walked around the halls wearing shirts that had a picture of bush and a saying that said "not my president". There was no form of patriotism displayed other than the band playing the national anthem at football games and the ROTC color guard on the field. I felt and still feel like America is just a dream that no one has anymore. That America was a great country sometime ago. Of course, this may not be true where the rest of yall live but being 30 miles from the border to the south, I see more Mexican flags flying than American.

Back to this thread though, WHEN the SHTF, I will defend that dream and I will die for that dream.

Yep, been out 21 years after 10 years active duty. My Oath has been sworn forever.

The Pledge and the Oath are not the same thing although they mean pretty much the same.
The Oath: I ____ do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign or domestic, and that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same.
No where in that oath does a service member swear to support and defend the congress against anyone. BUT you notice the oath states "all enemies, foreign and DOMESTIC".

I'd rather not go anywhere and change this country. The grass is always greener on the other side until you get there. No reason to burn down the house, just kick out the bad tenants. We can make a better country by jailing these crooks. They took an oath too. It was their employment contract.

shtf egress

Nah no way it's defense of any ideals in shtf.... in combat you fight for the man next to you, during an invasion you fight for the 60 foot radius around your home and what ever the hell else you feel worth defending.... if you have none of these you run.

That being said i'm happy to hear a lot of you guys will be sticking around in the states... that to me means a good portion of america will be held in american hands. Hope the uniformed police and soldiers have the same mentality of defense, and not offensive and tactical control of lands outside of their jurisdiction. I.E. my front door.

I keep faith that the military will defend the Consitution and refuse to take offensive positions against the American citizens; on the other hand, I have doubts about the police and will never place my trust in them...read the papers and listen to the news of all police abuses everywhere...ever heard of Gestapo?
