| Others Plans Do you pickup good ideas here? Have you changed plans or equipment based on what you've read or learned here? To be honest the numbers of people planning on fleeing to the country and living off the land has changedmy plans for adding guns and ammo, I'm buying more of each. I also want to make sure my neighbors are better armed. I'm also planning on adding more water to my supplies.

| I think you might be taking "fleeing to the country to live off the land" the wrong way. I dont think they mean "flee to the country and rape and kill and steal from everyone out there." Also, people with enough sense to actually understand the point of fleeing to the country (like most members here) are probably not the type to intend to do you and other country-folk harm anyways. My plan is to get to my family's property in a small town outside of Oklahoma City. I live in one of the city's suburbs, and theirs is just another, much much smaller one. However, they all own adjacent lots, all of which are 1-10 acres each, and my grandpa's lot has a large house with a very safe basement, as well as a 3000sq-ft garage building that is even sturdier and also has living quarters. He also has lots of farming equipment, a water well with a wind mill, and plenty of food. That I believe is my best bet to survive any situation. Any plans Ive posted primarily involve getting there (about 40 miles away by the road). I, however, have learned a bunch from reading this survival forum and putting together other ideas Ive found. Many of the posts and questions presented here have caused me to rethink what I know and don't know, and what things I should really be prepared for. | I'm generally not worried about the people on this site. I have been a Cop for 31 years. I currently work in a fairly bad area of a large city. Many people aren't coming out to the country to work and earn their way. Those folks tend to already be here.

| I also think people who say they are going to go "live off the land" have a general idea of where they are going to be headed. I think the dumbest thing you could do is just start driving into the woods and hope you end up somewhere without other people, namely the people who own the land that have probably prepared to do the same thing if it came to a major shtf situation and have them be unhappy that you are there. Any of us on this site would probably be very pissed off if we saw strange people roaming our property in this sort of scenario. As for equipment and other advice, i don't think there are people out there better prepared for the zombie apocalypse than the guys on G&G. All of you have excellent advice and i would definately come here with any survival oriented questions. What else would i do? Ask someone at Cabelas? ![]() |
