Ive seen several websites that tell what wild plants you can and cant eat but the problem is, many of the plants they mention don't grow where I live. Does anyone know if they make books or survival guides that are specific to certain geographical areas, such as the South?

Here's an option: Amazon.com: How to Stay Alive in the Woods: A Complete Guide to Food, Shelter and Self-Preservation Anywhere: Bradford Angier: Books ...and, a couple more for good measure: Amazon.com: Southern States - Survival Skills / Outdoors & Nature: Books ...and, this one too: http://www.amazon.com/Identifying-Ha...ref=pd_sim_b_4 ****** Not sure if you've seen these either: http://www.amazon.com/Field-Guide-Ed...d_bxgy_b_img_b http://cgi.ebay.com/A-Field-Guide-to...QQcmdZViewItem

Many collages or State Agencies put on demonstrations about NDN life in your area. Very often they show how people lived, what they ate and how it was prepared. You could check into these. Around here cactus, small game and a handful of plants were the bulk of the diet. Some foods are/were very seasonal.
