Family & Friend Contacts

Ya'll do realize that if there's ever a world wide SHTF, you may not ever hear from any family or friends again? Most of my family lives about 225 miles away on the other side of the biggest city in Texas. Most of my friends live 25 miles north of me but I have fiends all over Texas. It might be near impossible to find or keep track of any of'm.

If there ever were a SHTF my biggest worry would be, Is my Sister and Brother all right.
My wife would be with me. My son lives 91 miles away, he is a survivalist and Rambo type. he would survive.
I would feel safe with him here helping us survive.

Just for fun and I swear to yall my son knows what to eat and what not to eat outdoors includeing bugs.
One day I was with him hikeing and he said. You ever ate Pine Straw ? Before I could say don't put that chit in your mouth !!! He ate it ! It also makes good tea.

My brothers and sister and I have a link up plan to reunite based on quarterly time hacks. When and if it becomes safe to travel, we have a designated place to meet beginning with JAN, APR, JUL, and OCT.

All Id pray for is that my family members either go quickly are turn out just fine. That is only because I know it isn't realistic to travel all over my state to try to find them.

Or, if it isn't sudden (like in that book Lights Out, when space-detonated nuclear bombs knock out power all over the glove), then I hope they have enough time to get to us, or get to their local base (grandpa is a veteran and could probably get access).

My family lives 2200 miles away from me. If the internet, phone lines, cell phones, and mail system went to chit, I'd never know how to find them...

They'd prolly flee to my grnadparents place, a well protected farm in central illinios.

Depending on the severity of the situation

it is realistic, although sad, to understand you will never hear either from or of most of the people you have known in your life.

This is something you must mentally and emotionally, to the greatest degree possible, prepare for in advance as you cannot afford to be
hampered by grief when survival is your only option.

Kinda like a lot of refugees and such from Europe after WWII. Back then a decent ntework of bulletin boards and such were set up to help reunite friends and family. Of course, back then family and friends tended to originate within a few miles of the family farm. We're much more spread out now, but when order is re-established and computer networks start again you would see electronic boards and such for this purpose. During the SHTF scenario you would likely see the old-fashioned kind set up.

I agree 110%. My family knows me as someone who can easily roll with the punches. I have had my downs and disappointments, but I have always been known to get over it quickly and find positive alternatives. Not necessarily saying "well, at least with him dead we won't have to worry about a messy house!," but more like the "well, at least we are together and well right now" kindof attitude.

It's happened a lot in the past it sure would be a shock to most of us though. If it was bad enough we's loose phones, radio, TV, computers and maybe even most long distance travel.
After the War of Northern Agression very many Southern Soldiers returned to find their families gone to who knows where. Many Southern Soldiers didn't go back home for whatever reason, Post Tramatic Stress(?).
The movie 'The Postman' might kinda be a look into the future. I'd try to contact my brother, likely sending a piece of mail by anyone headed that way.
Did you know that 2 sisters seperated during WWII were reunited just this year? They were from Europe and were living less than 100 miles apart in the US.

In the book War Day, one of the hardest things dealt with by the main characters is their loss of their whole family instantly, with no warning and no remains, not even sure they all were gone. That is what we face with nuclear type catastrophes, and knowing it could happen may prevent panic and irrational action in a crucial moment later on. They would want you to survive, that's all the motivation you need.

Having a plan for meeting up is VERY important.

Temporary SHTF's like hurricanes/weather/earthquake mean that eventually power/water/phone/etc will get restored...eventually. All you have to do is survive for a few weeks until that occurs.

Worldwide SHTF, people are still going to try to restore things to "normality", the farther away from the meteor/WMD/etc will seek to get things straightened out the fastest, but by living off the grid out in the country you'll be the best off...nobody will wanna waste gas trying to find you, and if they do, you'll spot them coming a long way off. Those who live in cities, will for the most part, be completely screwed.

keep at least ONE old-fashioned dial-type telephone in your home...those will work when powered ones WON'T.
