i run my hpx for 5 hours straight on 3/4 of a tank of gas and it holds a little over 5 gallons now the rhino is fuel injected and it does better than the hpx but i never checked it. i fill them both up and run them for two weeks before i need to put gas in them.i run both of them atleast two hours a day. if your wife wants you to get one i would get a rhino ya'll would love it you can both ride sidexside and go to all kindsa places. there are trails every wheres.i wanna get me a truck and trailer to haul it so i can go to the windrock trails and hatfield&mcoy trails. i put 600.00 down on my rhino and my notes are 266.00 a month and it's worth every penny of it.i got the extended warranty with it so it's covered for the next 5 years from bumper to bumper.so i ain't gotta worry about no outa pocket expenses as long as i do the regular upkeep on it as required. the seats in it are real comfy infact i'm trying to get it street legal and in alot of states they are . this thing is easier to drive and alot more comfortable than drivin my car. i took out the rear sway bar and it lets the rearend really soak up the bumps really good infact you could run over a 6"bump and it will take it nice and smooth.i think it has like 8"of shock traveland 12.1" of ground clearance. oh well i'm ramblin on.

A lot really depends on where you are and where you intend to go. For someone that is driving out west along dirt trails and dried river beds, they don't require the same vehicle as someone in the South that will be driving in swamp mud.
I remember going to Vegas one year, to visit some friends and renting a car. The rental agency didn't have what I reserved so they bumped me up to a Volvo Cross Country station wagon. I took that Volvo up into the canyon trails and went everywhere that the jeeps and trucks were going. Of course I had to pick my path a bit more carefully than they did. I live down in the suburbs of Miami, when I go off road it's into the Everglades, you must have 4x4 and the appropriate tires. It's all a matter of traction and maneuverability. Doesn't matter how great a driver you are if you don't have the right machine you'll just end up stuck.

^ Very true. Some places you may not need a 4x4 but where Im from and plan on moving back too (Alaska) When it comes to reall offroading you NEED 4wd. And i dont meen those lil sissy trails on the side of the highway either lol.

^ Thats a cool website. I have seen some similer Home made Vehicles in Alaska (Not with that kind of profesional Looks and stuff though) My dad had a friend that took an old late 50s Truck shoved a ford 460 in it with 1 ton drive train and a locker in the back and front with twin inline transfere cases. It also has Airplane tires rapped in heavy duty chains. THe tires them selves are around 3 1/2 feet tall. Where the bed use to be he has a solid 9x12 wide by 9 feet tall box that inside has a bed, Stove, Table and sink. On top he also had a rack I believe that he would also load stuff up on. From what my dad use to tell me they would take it 20-30 miles back into the mountans of ALaska for moose/bear hunting. It looks like it came off a horror movie from something that the bad guy would drive. lol But it would get the job done and at the same time would go any where. I havnt been to there house in about 4 years or so but If I had some pics of it I would post em.

ok, i can't drive but if i could i would want the ford explorer sport trac. pleny of cargo, can tow stuff, has room for 5 people.
i have also thought about a rokon 2 wheel drive motor cycle, you could have a small farm with this, great gass milage, runs for about 9 hours on one tank, and you can get a plow, tow 2k pounds, go anywhere, easy to maintian
i have also thought of either a side by side but i think i have decided against that, it would be good but i am wanting something more off road capable so i would go for a polaris 850 or what ever which can tow a ton, litteraly, hold ~500 pounds on the racks or if you are using the seat carry 90 pounds on the rack and someone that is carrying 200 pounds plus the person.
those are my main three but right now all i have is a bike, non motorized that keeps breaking, and my own two feet.

a sidexside is more offroad capable than a atv.when we go offroading we pull them out of the holes all the time but they never pull us out.and we have way more cargo area than them and we are just 2 feet longer and the same width you might wanna re think your atv/sidexside thing.

a new atv with the same size engine
700cc atv 7,000
700cc rhino 10,500
things you can do with a rhino that you would never be able to do with that atv priceless.lol
no joking after makin the switch over to a side x side i swore i would never go back to an atv again to me they are just a waist of money they are a one rider atv.and they really can't do much of any work like a utv can.they are slowly being phased out around here less and less people are buying them and more people are buyng the utv's. i'm not ragging on the 4 wheeler but it's day has gome and gone i think and the utv has mad it's mark when we ride them 4 wheelers can't hang with us.

out of all the bugout rides i ain't seen anyone suggest a ultralite with a 15 gallon fuel tank. you can land or take off in a short distance and with 15 gallons of gas you can fly a long ways.

Altho we are a 4X family, Jeep cherokee, Jeep Wrangler and Ford Ranger PU. My pick would be the orginial Jeep Scrambler.
It combines the best of the Jeep and a pickup truck. It was also avaiable with a canvas top that cover the cab and the bed.
