Your community survival skills.

Just curious. In the event of a total SHTF certain types of skills and knowledge would be more ideal than others, such as food preservation, farming, medicine, mechanical skills, etc.

These types of hands on skills may be far more valuable than those of a stockbroker or IT specialists for example.

What types of skills do any of you possess? If we as the collective gun and game members found ourselves in a little end of the world community what would some of you be able to add to the group?

Exclamation

I'm a passable motorcycle mechanic, with some shop tools and space, on the side of town with NO good MC shops - possible work if TSHTF here.
I am a fair bootleg gunsmith for simpler work - maintenance, parts replacement and cleaning.
I reload a good number of calibers. Hope to begin lead casting soon.
Pretty fair carpenter for basic work, and some electrical and plumbing experience too.
Good shot with security/military experience.

Paramedic - so I could provide some good medical care and can get my hands on the right equipment at the onset, a little carpentry work in my past as well as some mechanical work as well, but medicine would be my best skill by far.

A unique skill will be valuable, in weird times. I've remodeled homes, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, security systems, A/V wiring, used to teach Kempo, some PI work, and I love to invent stuff. I also play Bass Guitar, and would like to be a Gunsmith. A multi talented individual will do good.

I'm very good with computers, however, I would be far more valuable as security personnel.

Some things from my resume':

Current: DoD civilian 6/2003 - current.

Duties: Combative Principles instructor.
S.E.R.E/counter-terrorism assistant instructor.
Civilian marksmanship instructor. (off duty)
Womens self-defense instructor. (off duty)

A good deal of S.E.R.E. is outdoor survival to which I'm very adept.

I would be pretty much be useless other than that, unfortunately.

Dragonov, I commend you on teaching women self defense, I used to do that at a battered womens shelter. Heard some pretty bad stories there.

Thank you. I do NOT charge for womens self defense classes. It is donated time. They get the same tactical H/H combatives training I give to soldiers.

Comic relief needed? Humor would be essential to keeping stress levels below critical mass in these situations... I know a little about everything, but everything about nothing. I can offer security services, after 10 years in the AF doing that I've figured out how to secure something... I'm fairly proficient in planning and organizing. And if we need non-lethal defenses, I can always fire up the bagpipes!

I can run most power tools, all hand tools, and most heavy equipment.
I am a fair hunter and a good shot.
I am handy at carpentry and a little plumbing.
Can sew fairly well....learning to crochet.
Am great at "improvised redneck engineering".
Decent cook.
Fairly handy in a fight...albeit without any training except for actual fights.

I have never been in a firefight...but I am cool-headed and stable under pressure...I hope I would retain that in a combat situation.

I can throw a double-bitted axe 30 yards and stick it in a oak tree. LOL

I am also handy with a bow.

Hey, don't lump me in with stockbrokers, please As for useful skills and supplies, I've spent 20 years reloading, I'm pretty accurate standing out to about 100 yards, prone a LOT further. I can handle a shotgun and pistol. I'm also pretty handy with wood working tools. And I used to be a surveyor. I'm also a scrounger, and I can find stuff that's been lost for a while. And I can cook, but I hate cleaning.
