| Senior Member | Dad use to use Halizone tabs in Panama and Korea. Dont know if they have those anymore. Solar stills at least in my experiance doesnt yeald exceptionally large quantities of water, depending on moisture content of the ground and the humidity but it will keep you ticking. Depending on where you are things will be different and thats the rub.

you can boil pee, and let the water vapor condensate on something to get pure water, everything that isnt water is left in the pot, which you discard.

| Hi, Aussie army emergency water purifier. Billy of water inside a 5 gallon drum, 5 gl drum over a fire, hole in bottom of 5gal drum, another billy under drum. heat both drum and first billy, condensation will form droplets in drum and will leak out holes into 2nd billy.

| Kitidin Water filter The one at work at our remote site is used while we are doing maintenance jobs has worked well for the last 5 years, just a couple weeks back we had no rain water so we used pond water all full of bug's we strained them out thru a towel and filled er up, this model has the cleanable filters "good idea to have spares, the worst case cenario would be boiling those bug's and makeing coffee they will blend right in with the grounds and save the clearer stuff for the drinking water bottles. The remote site we have a propane refrigerator with a freezer top I had boiled crudely seined water and made ice cubes still had those little water bug's in the muffin tin I used for a ice cube tray, when clearing brush it is nice to have water and somthing to keep it cool "not cold" with I remember seeing old cloth coverd crock jar's to keep water cool the cloth was saturated with water as it evaporated it kept the crock cool so you had cool water. When we worked the hayfields or helping family members farm we filled our water jug's every morning "milk jug's" and kept them wrapt in our jackets in the cab's of our trucks with the the window's down so cab was cool and alway's parked in the shade. |
