Of My guns, what is the best combo?

This has been sort of asked before but since I dont have most of the guns you all talk about in previous threads I thought Id ask.
Scenario, the SHTF and for whatever reason I have to leave my comfy supplied house to move to one of several preselected secondary "safe houses" I have with friends etc.
I live in the middle of a high population density area. Its not like NYC or some crazyness like that but lets say that its pretty packed lol. However only about 5 miles out from my place, the geography quickly transforms into more rual areas. My secondary locations are spread out in locations between just under a mile to 32 miles and cover areas that are in similar populated areas to less populated places out in the country (my ideal place). Either way I need to move through an urban environment at least for some time in order to get anywhere else. If im traveling to some of the farther locations I will most likely be doing so with a buddy.

Im in the process of making my emergency "I need to bail out of my house right the (expletive) NOW kit." Something which I would try go use as a last resort but due to the nature of the emergency or whatever may happen.

Which very well may mean hoofing it b/c if such a situation existed im pretty sure the traffic and other masses of people would make vehicle travel highly unfeasible where I live.
Im basically making a kit that will provide me with basic supplies to get me from my house to which ever secondary location I need to get too.
Kit is compromised of a medium sized backpack containing your more basic survival needs which have already been discussed at length in these forums, and a MOLLE covered shoulder bag in which I can use as a dump pouch, or outfit with a variety of smaller pouches to hold extra rifle/pistol magazines, shotgun shells, handgun holster and carry other useful immediate use tools; flashlights, compact binoculars or whatever i decide.
So down to my question,
This is what I have at my disposal
Mosin Nagant M44 carbine can carry 54 rounds in/on gun and sling alone
AK47 - 5x 30 round mags
16" AR15 - 6x 30 round mags
Rem. 870 TAC 3 12g with 20" improv cyl./ 8 round capacity plus 27 rounds mounted on gun or sling. I have a variety of ammo for it too including both shot and slugs.
Beretta CX4 Storm 9mm carbine with 5x 20 round mags
HK USP .45ACP Compact - 3x 8 round mags
Ruger SP101 .357 mag with 3x 5 round speedloaders
Glock 17 9mm with 3x 17 round mags
So yea, If I could take one long gun and one handgun which do you all think is the best combo for all around survival and defense. Keeping in mind that Open carry not being an issue, I could carry a little more boxed ammo in my pack besides what is loaded in mags or in weapons, and all of my secondary locations also have other assortments of firearms so whatever I bring will eventually supplement them.

my preference would be: ak47, but with a lot more mags. i have 8 full 30rd mags, & 1 full 40rd in rifle mag. i'm going to get 2 more 30s tomorrow and i can fill'em up.
i plan on having at least 500 in mag. im even making a bag for them that fits on a molle rig.
and the hk usp 45 but with alot more mags.
you ever think about getting a tac vest?
it makes carrying alot easyer.
heres my shtf gear

Yea I saw your vest load out, pretty neat. I was thinking the vest too but Im a rather small guy and I wonder how well the vest set up would fit me. They arnt too specific with sizes and size adjust ability on most web sites I have seen.

Do you leave your mags loaded or not? Just wondering about feed lip creep.

I agree with KingMusa's selection. Get more mags... In an urban interface your going to want to have knock down power and easy reloads...

What I would recommend above that would be getting a beretta 92 ($300-$700) to go with you carbine, or a KelTec sub2000 carbine ($300) to go with your glock... that way your pistol and your long arm share ammo and magazines.

Yea I was thinking something like that, my only question would be then, Id be limiting myself to 9mm for both guns, but I guess thats another debate lol.

if i were you i'd just go to the local army surp store and try them on and see what fits. that's what i did.
i allways leave my mags full. if the poo pops off you really think you are gonna have time to load up. im not sure if that's good or not but most of my mags are master mold polymers and from now on thats what i'll buy.
i do go through and unload and reload my mags every 2 weeks.

You have some good choices. My preference would be the Glock 17 and the AR15. My reasoning behind that is that I feel that the availability of replacement ammo would be greater with these 2 calibers. Both of these caliber are used by the military and most LEO's. I always stick with what I consider the basic military or police calibers; 9mm, .40, .45, 223, 308, 7.62x39 and 12 guage. I figure in SHTF situation they are gonna be the last to have ammo.

I leave my mags unfilled unless I've got a Glock under my pillow. I've seen far too many magazine springs go bad from being filled all the time.

Always keep at least one good six-shooter for home use, it'll protect you while you load your magazines A good .44 Magnum goes a LONG way towards keeping folks out when they hear the first shot...and if you have a couple of speed-loaders for it as backups you can hold off folks for quite a bit while yer kids load the mags.....

AK 47 or AR 15
HK USP

You need to figure out a good place to hide/bury the rest of'm for future retrieval.
Try a photographer's vest, they come in smaller sizes.

AR and 870 Tac with Glock 17.

I plan on taking my SKS, Mossberg, and 9mm. The M44 is too heavy and slow firing.

The the AR-15 and the Glock 17 or the AK-47 and the HK .45 are the best combos out of the guns you have, in my honest opinion. No matter which you decide on, and whether or not you end up needing any of them for any SHTF scenario or anything else, KingMusa45 is right, you need more mags... I'm sure all can use more mags, you can never have too many mags in my book...

AR-10 or AR-15, 1911 or a 9mm, which ever is handy at the time. Preferrably would be the 308 and 45 The 308 will reach out and touch someone the 45 for CQB and knock down power over firepower.

Well stated! There's a lot to be said about having matching equipment. You'll be under enough stress in that situation, so why not simplify your armament.

If you plan on taking a bunch'a guns on one trip, load up just like you plan on traveling and see if you really think you can haul all that crap.
On top of guns you have to take at least enough stuff to get you where ever it is you're heading.
One of you Vets jump in here. How much weight did you carry and you were only carrying the one rifle/carbine right?

I'd be in trouble as I've only have a bolt action .223rem rifle, bolt action .22lr rifle, and 9mm HK 2000 w/ 3 mags and .22lr revolver to chose from.

Oh no, you're one of the fortunate few who won't have to leave an arsenal at home or a trail of guns lying on the ground behind you. Go with the .223 and the 9mm. Dress like you're headed to see Grandma and you'll likely be fine.

Vest or Not

Howdy,

As far as the vests go, I have one similar to the second poster. I have a drop leg holster, and a drop leg mag holder, attached to the vest. I have loaded it up with mags(full), both rifle and pistol, and it's not that heavy. That's 9 rifle mags and 8 pistol mags. I'm a big guy(6' @ 250#) and the vest is very adjustable. I also have a back pack with a bladder in it. It won't fit over my flak jacket, but I can use my other rig for that. It has 2 M-16 pouches, a flap holster, mag holder, K-Bar & 2 canteens. The vest, flack jacket, backpack are in woodland. The other rig is OD.
