For snakes around the house I usually use a Savage 9478 single shot 12 gauge, a pitching wedge, or a 9" Bowie knife.

| It's really not a matter of need, more of want. Like many, I have my CHP but I prefer a long gun for self-defense. For years I carried a Mossberg 500 but once I picked up the carbine, it was a easy decision to switch, so as a matter of practice, I carry my carbine with me around my property, keep it handy in the house and on ocassion, it will go fishing on the boat.

| I wish it were mine! That one is Chief's, my last opportunity to buy an M-1 carbine was about 5 years ago for $399 - I haven't seen one for less than $900 since! I would imagine things like get the mail, water yer flowers, bird watch - basically anything is better when you are packing some carbine action!
