Get into reloading. I use reformed .284Win cases (Privi are good too, I just haven't ordered any), use your favorite .308 bullet (I use Hornady 150 grain FMJ-BT), and your favorite powder suitable for Milsurp rifles. Bob's yer uncle! Keeps me shooting, and it's nearly as tight shooting as GP11! ![]() Check out the forum on SwissRifles.com - lots of good info on GP11 and handloading. They even show how to convert berdan cases to boxer - I'm saving all my shiny GP11 brass, in case I decide to try it.

I picked up some GP11 stuff today, 2 packs for $80 at a gun shop. A little pricey, but factoring in shipping I think it is probably close to an internet deal. The last 2 packs the guy had. I also have 40 rds unfired Privi, and 20 rds fired, and 20 rds unfired Hornady I found somewhere. So if anyone is curious, about 500 rds of 7.5 x 55 Swiss will fit in to one ammo can

I like that 284 resize option. Glad I stumbled on this thread. Thought my 2 swiss' were going to end up as safe queens. I also found that thread on converting berdan to boxer. I may try something like that on my 6.5 swedes since I have a ton of it and find it easy to deprime. Ran across a few threads on the swiss site about berdan primes available in Canada. Someone up north drive over and bring us some back! I wonder if customs guys would have issue with that? They don't seem to like us bringing fireworks back from Mexico. |

J&G just sent me an email saying they have some 7.5 x 55 Swiss in stock at the moment. Just bought some of that, and some 8mm Mauser.

here's a little tidbit that some of you might find of interest. I was at a gunshow this weekend trying to sell my K31. No takers, but some guy walked up to me with a box containing 15 rds of 7.5 ammo on five round stripper clips. The slugs were laquer coated, but the cases seemed identical so I went for it. Next day I went shooting. 4 ftf out of 15 rds with one extra that required a double tap to fire. The ftf rounds would not extract, but came out easily when I dropped a cleaning rod down the barrel. It wasn't until I got home that a penney dropped in the slot. Do you suppose these were 7.5 MAS rounds? Anyone have any ideas? The ammo is shot off or thrown away, but curiousity prevails. |

Could be. 7.5 French is similar to 7.5 Swiss - both are just a bit fatter than .308Win, and use .308 bullets. It never dawned on me that the French round might actually chamber in a Swiss rifle. I would NOT try it, and it brings up a possible danger for owners of both rifles. I'll caution my shooting buddy about this possibility - he owns both guns. He makes his 7.5 French loads using 6.5 Swede Mauser brass.

the french round is a 7.5x54 and the swiss a 7.5x55. I certainly wasn't thinking of it being a different round when I got it and tried to shoot it. to my failing eyes the rounds appeared identical. clearly they are not.
