| Wolff spring kit in Taurus revolver?
How difficult is it to install the trigger return spring and hammer spring in the Taruus revolvers? I ordered the kit tonight from Wolff, trying to decide if its a gunsmith-only job.

I wish I could tell you. I totally disassembled both my old Ruger SP-101 and Police Service Six & reassembled them without trouble. Haven't had the inclination to try it with either of my Taurus revolvers. Just out of curiosity, are you doing a tune-up of some sort or did something run amuck?

Oh no, nothing wrong. In fact, I have intentions on adding the .22 lr Tracker to my collection real soon (along with a 9mm SP101 when Lipsey's gets more). I absolutely love the gun, and the action is plenty slick. Just wanted to lighten the trigger pull.

| Put the springs in
Lets see... I installed the 10lb hammer spring and 11lb trigger return spring. Figure I'll give these a shot when the weather breaks, and make sure the hammer is still hitting hard enough to ignite the primer. if not, guess I'll need to go up on the hammer spring. The kit came with 10lb, 11lb, and 12lb hammer springs. WHOOEEE! It sure is lighter though. Made a great difference. Everything seems to function so far, both single action and double action. Still, won't be sure until I pump some ammo through it. |

Hey Mark, please update us when you try it in live fire. Thanks.

Check it in live fire before you rely on it. A good test for that hammer spring is CCI Blazer 158gr. .38 Special or .357 Mag. The CCI primers are really hard and will prove the strength of the hammer spring... I personally would fire 100 rds. minimum.

Jesse, Its a .45 ACP Tracker. I've been shooting a lot of Speer Lawman ammo for practice. Aren't Speer and CCI the same company? |

Finally!!! A day with no rain!!! Got the chance to work the revolver out. Confirmed that Speer and CCI are the same company, so my Speer Lawman should have the harder primers. Shot 50 rounds with zero failures Its light enough now that double action firing doesn't feel like a workout. Highly recommend the Wolff Spring kit to everyone!!! :target: |

hey Mark, how heavy a pull does the original factory spring have? I have a large frame .357 with a pretty good pull that doesn't seem to bother me, but easier pull should improve my range grouping. How much did the spring kit run ya?

According to Wolff, my revolver came with a 14lb hammer spring, and a 15lb trigger spring. The kit comes with 10lb and 11lb trigger springs, and 10lb, 11lb, and 12lb hammer springs. All for a princely sum of $10.50. I've provided you the link below: http://www.gunsprings.com/1ndex.html |
